How do I connect my low res rig to my medium res rig with added bones and facial rig?

If I have a low res character with cut geometry parent constrained to bones and used this to animate the body, does anybody know how I then connect this back to my mid res rig that is skinned with extra joints and a facial rig that can then be further animated? The only topics I can find online are low res to high res with wrap deform etc.

I’m guessing the best method is to save out the animation and import that to the mid res rig. But will there be any problems if the rig has been added to? And are there any useful plug-ins if this is the route I should take?

You should always reference your rig files so you can swap them out and keep the animation.

Does anybody know how I can get the reference file for animating to update on a different computer when I change the rig file from my computer? I can’t find an answer. Thanks in advanced!
