What do u think?
How can I become an art director?
Art directors are usually well versed in soft skills such as leadership, management, communication, empathy, negotiation, critical thinking, conveying ideas to others etc. Your technical skills will be your foot in the door so it doesn’t matter what your ‘job’ you pick to begin with (although I recommend one you have passion/skill for). Its a very demanding job and admire your enthusiasm. I wish you the best of luck, you will need to climb the ladder until you are able to prove yourself for this role.
A insightful write-up about Oscar winning Art Director Patrick O’Keefe, recounting his experiences and advice when art directing an acclaimed animated movie:
Depending on how you work when leading a team and telling a story I’d suggest you’d aim for deeper skills in two things; The storyboarding/story development and ally yourself with a really good teamleader to learn the soft skills of people in the industry
