How about some positive stories?

#1

Seems like there is a lot of negativity and bad stories here in the General Discussion section. How about some positive stories about anything cg related that has happened to you guys/girls. Could be having great clients, working on an awesome project basically ANYTHING!

Ill start:

I have been doing 3d for a hobby and for fun for the past 5-6 years. Nothing super serious a few freelance gigs here and there to help pay for my hobby. I’m currently studying Architecture and am loving it. We’ll anyways about a month ago I go contacted by a client who seemed very excited to have the chance of me working with him( which made me feel super good about my self), he’s pretty damn cool too and a lot of time just talk about random stuff on the phone haha. Well we talk a few times on the phone and get the ball rolling. Now I’m working with him doing some pretty cool prototype stuff, making enough money so that I won’t really be considered a poor student anymore, getting an equal amount of shares in the company as my pay, pretty relax work schedule, he wasn’t to happy with my current computer setup( XPS M1530) so he offered to buy me a new computer. Turns out its going to be a new quadcore Power Mac. He also wants to fly me out to the other side of the continent to check out the operation and stuff. So yeah I’m 21 and looks like all those years of toying around are going to help me out huge. I’m just happy and thought id share my little (to me) success story.

Now lets here some of yours!

I finally got rid of the flickering in the displacement map I’ve been test-rendering all morning. Wooo.

I’ve still got work in a recession somehow. That keeps me positive! Never had a computer bought for my personal use though. I did get a client to buy me Deep Exploration once. That has proven very useful and I still do work for the same client.

I think the thing with forum threads is there are a handful of emotional reasons that make you post. Those out of work, or bored, are less motivated to work, and those with work, and not bored, may be too busy to post new threads or too happy to complain. Hence negative posts outweigh positive ones. That’s my opinion anyhow.

Pfft. No matter how busy I am, I always have time to complain.

Not necessarily CG related, but me and my fiancée will be celebrating our 4 year anniversary on the 15th. Next year we get married. :stuck_out_tongue:

As a boss, that facebook image going around about the employee bitching about her boss brought a MASSIVE smile to my face.

OH-And I almost finished some of my work. Almost.

#14

Taking (traditional not digital) sculpting at my community college in a week.

#16

I haven’t killed in weeks!

#17

Also in the traditional realm, I figured out how to get epoxy clay to make a perfect impression from a flexible silicon mold, which saves me the trouble of having to make two molds for every sculpture.

I got a pretty nice email today from a particularly difficult client. Oh and I’m nearly finished with my fx challenge. I think its looking pretty good.

All this summer I have only had to go into the office one day a week and work from home the rest. It has given me so much of my life back, and made me a all around happier person. The day I go in the office now I am happy to go and I don’t feel like screaming in the car before I get out.
