Check out my website. The animations and models are all done in AM. There will be more coming so check back every week or so. I have about 5 new models ready for animation and will be testing them out soon.
How about showing off to the CGtalk forum
Railway hardware from the first half of the last century - a combination mail/passenger car.
http://www.netcore.ca/~reynolds/catalog/mail_car_pics.htm
- mostly splinage with a few bump decals
- minimal interior detailing
- 22 materials
- 29,575 patches
No decals were used to apply dirt to any of the surfaces.
My thanks to Brian ābalisticā Prince for his suggestion for a material to simulate wavy sheet metal.

Itās old and hevy.
Did it about two years ago in order to se if AM could handle a 50000 pathes model. It couldā¦sort of.
As you can see the images are there but the model was a pain to handle in AM even thoug I had split it into 4 parts. Just loading the project takes around 10 -15 minutes.
Tiger 1 tank:

wow! very detailed. I know what you mean about long load times, my current project is a bit of a c**t in that respect.
hereās a WIP:

Thatās coming along nicely, Finkster!
And the detail Hellborn modeled into those tanks, well⦠ wow
Well, as long as yu asked, you can see some models and animations I did in AM at

I am really looking forward to doing more but I am waiting till stability issues get worked out or I can afford a new software.

Wow! Some sweet stuff there!
I need to get Den Beauvais to come on over and cause some trouble
Heās been doing some Alien and Predator stuff thatās very impressiveā¦
Hereās a few oldies, and a couple more recentā¦

I wish I had more time to work on AM stuff⦠LW has been eating a lot of my time lately, but if they fix the AM renderer⦠who knows?

I love that Huner global shot. I heard Joe spent many a night at the local gentlemens clubs getting reference pics
Now why would I tolerate the smoke and noise, when everything I need is right at the end of my Cable Modem - heh, heh, hehā¦
Actually, sheās based on a painting by Simon Bisley, which I hope at SOME point to (re)create in 3D - then have a print made and hang it on my office wall⦠(BTW - that model is still a WIP - needs better texturesā¦)
Anything to keep the Mormons out of my office - LOL!

JoeW,
Please tell me you use porcelain or average normals on your models! They are so smooth! The āMoonā character on your site, who sings to Norah Jones, was she done in A:M? Fantastic stuff! (No, Iām not overdoing the exclamation marks.)
Thatās awesome work Joe. How about posting it on the CGtalk main page and see what the rest of the worl thinks, maybe score one for A:M. Jim could post out there too with out fear.:bounce: :bounce:
Cheers, Graham

Well. I found the answer on your site with this image:
ftp://ftp.hash.com/users/joewllms/Other/wireframe.gif
Thatās not an A:M wireframe. Maybe that explains the smoothness.
Moon Juju is Lightwave. I believe the rest of his models are AM, although Iām not sure about the motorcycle.
Jim, I know you are on a Mac, but if you can view Dvix, look at the one that Joe provided in his links. It shows a turnaround of the women in wireframe aswell, and that has to be made in AM.
I agree, letās see some of your work on this site.

Thanks, Jim
No, I donāt use Porcelain - itās too unpredictable and it doesnāt shadow correctly, and I donāt know what average normals is⦠hmmm⦠.have to look that one up. Some of the models on that site are Lightwave sub-dās, and I think those might be the ones youāre looking atā¦
The MoonJuju was built initially in AM, then brought into LW and converted to SubDās. The animation youāre talking about is a LW animation (thanks again for the compliment - unfortunately I see everything WRONG with it anymore - LOL!)
Nicco is correct - the bike is AM. Iām using the light rigs that Yves Poissant (pardon my spelling, please) has posted on his site. If you havenāt messed with them, you should - they are very cool. That beast is racking in at over 35K patchesā¦
Thanks also to Graham and Stephen - I guess Iāll have to post some stuff⦠never have been able to resist peer-pressure (joking) ⦠
(jeeez I feel like someoneās been looking through my drawers!)
- I hope there wasnāt any dirty laundry in thereā¦
BTW - There is a Mac version of DIVX at www.divx.comā¦
Joe W
Stephen,
Yes, thanks, I did see the wireframe divx movie. Maybe thatās what made me think it was all A:M. I think you should be posting your stuff here (Briar Rose).
Graham,
Thanks!
JoeW,
Thanks for the answers. Average normals was, for a short while in v9, an advanced property that you could use that did what porcelain did. But it got taken out sometime in v9 or 9.5. It was easy to smooth just certain areas of your model that you knew werenāt going to be animated much. I would like to see that return, but work better, also.
Does the Hunter model have a rig of your own making? Smartskin?
Sorry for looking through your ādrawersā, but it was an inspiring experience!

Jim,
Yes, Hunter has a relatively rudimentary rig with smartskinning. I donāt really like the rigs that do too much automatically, as the āautomaticā part tends to get in the way at the worst times. Smartskin is something that STILL eludes every other package out there. They may claim they have it, but they donāt have a clue as to how it should work⦠ah, but I digress.
I also agree with you about Stephenās stuff - some excellent animations there. Makes me think I need to work on that more⦠if I only didnāt have to sleepā¦
Iād also like to see your stuff up - I mean, If I have to post, you have to post, too - itās only fair
JoeW
Thanks Jim and Joe, (that has a nice ring to it)
Iāve got nothing new to post, but Iām setting aside some quality time with just me and AM this weekend, so hopefully I can produce something worth showing here.
