Houdini Crashed while rendering a fluid sim

#1

Hi, I recently was rendering out the data for a fluid simulation I was doing and the whole program crashed when I got to about 95% finished. How can I go about reloading in this data so I can continue running this simulation? I really don’t want to have to re run this whole thing through since it took over 24 hours to get where it is at now. Please Help!!!

I see the date is pretty old on this but maybe it will help someone else in the future. It depends on how you were saving the data. If you were saving the simulation at the SOP level then the simulation ends there and can’t be resumed because information about the simulation gets tossed when it leaves the DOP network. If you were saving the simulation at the DOP level then you can pickup where it left off.

While saving the simulation at the DOP level provides more flexibility it also takes up a lot more disk space so there’s a tradeoff.
