HMC #45 - The Legend of Zelda: something something

#1

My son likes to ask me, “Daddy, what’s your favorite video game?” That’s a lot like asking me what is my favorite food. When you like something that much, it’s hard to really nail it down. But if I had to pick a series that I have consistently enjoyed time and again it would most definitely be “The Legend of Zelda”, even more than Mario.

I’m going to pick an iconic scene from LoZ and crank it up to 11. There are several that I’m thinking of but most probably it will be pulling the Master sword from “Link to the Past”.

Edit:
Alright, I’ve finally gotten a little time to work on this. I’ve decided to base my Link off of Katsuya Terada’s original concepts for The Legend of Zelda.

A few of his classic concepts. I always loved this artwork back when it was fresh. The last two are how Link was originally envisioned. Reminiscent of He-Man size guys which was cool back in the 80s.

I’m not planning on making him bulky but I do like that costume design.

Thanks Tombery.

First draft. Hehe, not quite where I want it to be yet but its a good base. I’m following a method I picked up from a recent tutorial series so I’m attempting to adapt that technique to this character… Needs a bit of work.

At least you can see what type of Link this will be. The old school gritty Link. There was an old concept drawing someone did of a scruffy Link that I always thought was cool but I can’t find it at all now. I may try that too, like he’s been on the road adventuring a while.
