HMC 29: SciFi Icon - Deckard - Blade Runner.

that is great!! Good adjustments! Keep going

#16

Thanks Speed87. Another update; I’ve imported the basemeshes into Zbrush and started marking out some details on the trenchcoat and shrunk the shoes, I noticed they were bigger than the head :stuck_out_tongue:

And a close up of the head

Obviously lots of work is still needed on the clothes

I was thinking of posing him on a different pose than I initially thought, I want to put him on a dynamic pose, pointing the gun or running, some options:

The pose from the logo

or this one (there’s another photo showing the same stance in full body, but I can’t find it now :P)

What do you think?

#17

In these last couple of days I’ve been working on Deckard’s gun/blaster, it’s more complex than I initially thought, thankfuly I got tons of reference images from the Internet

Here’s a preview of the blaster (mind you that it’s still in progress, some parts are missing):

Some areas will be sculpted for very fine details, like text imprints on ZBrush.

Cheers,

The gun is looking really good. I think on the body you could do with just refining some of the volumes at a lower subdivision level to fill out the forms of the jacket etc. There’s a little lumpiness in there at the moment, mainly on the back and the lower portion of the jacket.

Thanks Ben

About the trenchcoat, yeah, basically I haven’t really worked on it, just marked some areas to act as landmarks. Unfortunately the best way I found to make the striations on the trenchcoat’s collar was to export a mid-rez model of it to Blender, extrude faces and re-import. The problem is that I lost the lower levers of detail, but I have an idea of how to get them back; reimport the older trenchcoat, and Zproject just the details of the collar, when I finish the blaster I will return to Deckard, with yor comments in mind ;).

Cheers!

I’ve been working more on the gun, and it’s almost done. I still have to clean up some geo and close some holes, but it’s almost there:

#21

great gun!!!

#22

Thanks guhhh

I think the gun’s good enough to stop modeling in Blender. I’ll still work on some things on it, but from now on it will be in Zbrush. Here’s the latest screenies from the blaster:

So tomorrow I’ll return to Zbrush, working on Deckard

#23

Well, I’m back to Deckard, and used Zproject to project details from the new trenchcoat to a earlier one, that had lower rez subdivisions. It was trickier than I thought, I had to isolate the collar to get it right. Afterwards, started to better detail the trenchcoat.

Cheers!

#24

Worked some more on Deckard, and tried Zbrush 4’s spotlight, pretty cool.
Working on the more or less symmetrical parts, afterwards I’ll pose it, and continue from there, especially in the cloth wrinkles, because they’re very dependent of the pose.

Had some issues with the gun, when trying to project the smaller detail on the gun grip, so I retopo’ed that part, to have more or less even square faces:

And the gun, in Zbrush, with the correctly projected detail:

Cheers,

After a small break, an update on the trenchcoat:

#26

Hes looking great! Do you plan on redoing the hair by any chance? Looks like you used the rake brush. I think the hair could be fuller on top with a better flow. Try the slash 3 brush. Keep it up.

#27

Thanks Speed87, yeah, the current hair is temporary, eventually I’ll return to the head and hair, and I will try the slash3 brush

#28

An update on Deckard’s head:

#29

Whoooaa…long time without posting, I’ve been working on Deckard, just didn’t have the time to post and really finish it up to the level I wanted, so I’ll stick with this for a couple of days.
It’s a shame I missed the deadline, but I want to make this a folio piece, and I think I can squeeze more out of this one.
Anyway, here’s a taste, a render tweaked in PS:

In the next days I’ll post more images.

Btw, great entries everyone, some of them are really stunning! Congratulations to all and good luck!

#30

This is really cool, great work!!!

#31

Voting isn’t until Friday so you should post it up. This is a good piece. That last pic though, how much of that is PS? I would only post the raw render.

#32

Thanks Tombery and WyatHarris.
Although I’m late, I’ve decided to post it anyway, as a matter of pride because I finished it :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve used another render for the beauty render, and used only a screenshot of ZBrush, because I’m still tweaking the lights and materials, and didn’t want to waste any more time. The previous I posted had some color tweaks of the shadow pass, and some adjustments on contrast, but the new image shows more of the sculpture.

So, here are some images:

Thanks for watching and commenting

#33

Yeah, finished tweakings for my folio: here’s the new beauty render:

And some other images (hi-res):
