HMC 29: Sci-fi Icon: I Am legend-Dr. Robert Neville

I’ve never participated in any of these challenges so it’s time to break that cycle. I’ve chosen Dr. Robert Neville from I Am Legend.

Hopefully I will be able to complete it in time :).

Just finished up the base mesh. About to take it into zbrush to block out the forms.

Hardly had any free time this weekend to work on anything but I did manage to squeeze in some time to work on the face for a bit. The likeness isn’t completely there yet but I don’t want to get caught up only focusing on the face this early on. Moving on the body/clothes…

Finally got some time to get back to this today. Built base meshes for the clothes.

I also managed to find some really good reference for the jacket and shoes. I’m definitely going to model the gun but I doubt I’ll have time to get to the bag.

Started working on the shirt this evening. Most of the wrinkles probably will be covered by his jacket so I think it’s good for now. I’m probably going to move onto the pants next. It’s the weekend so I should have a lot more time to work on this.

Started working on the folds on the jacket and made more progress on the pants and face. Still tons to do…

Had a little time this evening so I decided to get away from sculpting for a bit and start the gun. This is still the very beginnings of it. More to come…

It’s been quite a while since my last update. I moved to a new apartment and it threw me off track. Anyways, here is more progress on the gun. It turned out to be more complicated than I originally thought but I’m pretty close to finishing it. Looking forward to getting back into sculpting!

Soldazzle, you have great cloth wrinkle sculpting action going on, kudos!
I know how you feel about returning to sculpting, I’ve been also modeling a gun these last few days, and I miss Zbrush. It’s good to change modeling apps and workflows from time to time.

Thank you Ibelerique! Yeah, it’s good to switch workflows for bit but this gun is a lot more complicated than I originally thought. Tomorrow is my self imposed deadline for finishing it. I’m very eager to return to sculpting…deadline approaching!

Started adding the pockets and more details on the jacket. Also did a few tweaks on the face.

At this point, I would say I’m finished with the clothes. I could probably do a little better on the pants but time isn’t on my side. The face still needs some work and I definitely have to start thinking of a pose. 5 days left!!
