Image appears to be taken around 1942 (http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/04/27/travel/27journeys.html) so maybe that can be a hint at least
HMC #23: Ansel Adams Tribute- Adams Standing on Car
Hi,
the earliest model I found of this car is from 1946, so either I’m wrong or the photo can’t be from 1942…
Found a model of that version from 1939. Might be a custom version in the ansell shot.

hope it helps
its definitely not that 39 version, the number of wood panels is wrong, the fenders front and back are different.
maybe i should’ve done this pic as i originally wanted cause those pine branches are a pain.
EDIT: i did find a site that listed the streamliner in 1942: http://www.earlytimeschapter.org/1942.html
Yeah, it seems like the closest thing I can find is from '46. The giveaway is usually the chrome runner along the side.
You can see by this identification sheet that the car is pretty much the '46 streamliner woody
Worked on the car a little bit last night, but I just realized how complext the camera is. I got a bunch of great reference for it today, so I’m going to try to give it some lovin’ this weekend while I try to figure out some more things about the car like actual dimensions.
Not much of an update, but as you can imagine it’s a busy time of year! Worked on the car a little and roughing out the body shapes.

After a lot of research I’ve decided to make Ansel’s camera a Deardorff 8x10 large format camera:

I think for now I’m going to concentrate on getting this guy made, then I’ll see how much time I have to do the rest of my entry. It might just end up being a tribute to one of many of Ansel’s cameras and large format photography in general
Quick camera update, I work on this yesterday. I blocked out the main areas and I’m going back and adding the hinges and panels:

Nice. You’re gonna have a pretty cool model collection after this project is over. Looking forward to more. You goin all out and doing a character too?
I’m looking forward to see that camera fisnished, from what you have now it looks very promising. Its a pretty complex piece of equipment and a pretty important part of his life so that is a nice tribute.
sorry roberto, just don’t have time to finish this one up! I’m busy planning a wedding among other things, hope to come back to it at some point though afterward! Thanks for the extra time though.
Hold on, you’re getting married man?!?!?!
Dude, congrats!
LOL, lil Mikey is all grown up now! Sniff sniff.
Oh, Alexey said to run away before it’s too late.
On a side note; I think the car in the original photo might be a 42 Olds.
