HMC #20 - Expressions - Homer Simpson

#5

I don’t know! I will give some tryouts first and see what happens. I think i am going to make him look like a clay model… But trully I don’t know!

Probably I am going to post the different possibilities! haha

Excellent choice. can’t wait to see what you come up with. It’s always interesting to see a cartoon go from 2d to 3d. Also have you seen this image http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=121&t=740609 ? it just came to mind.

yeh that moes pic is awesome…

i’m really looking forward to this one…its so outwardly simple yet could end up being really challenging…

plus those emotions you picked are classically homer…

#8

Agigaherger: Thanks for the reference!, it’s a great pic!, I had in my mind that kind of beauty render, it’s a great final result!

robo: I really hope this become challenging! haha

Work In Progress:

Next:

Mouth
Teeth
Upper part of the body (shirt, arms to help the expressions)

#10

Wow! that’s pretty good, but the top of his head looks a bit square. Hope to see more soon.

#11

Great start Slashmore.

You may want to double-check the main thread.

Looks like Roberto is picking very specific expressions. No final word yet.

#12

looking good, slashmore
i do hope the official list could be expanded, it’ll be a shame not to be able to do some of Homer’s most classic expressions

#13

Yes, Like the “WHY YOU LITTLE…” expression.

#14

Hey dude! Great choice! Good luck for you! Homer is a very hard character to make in 3d and still looking like himself! (And I can that! hahaha!)

Keep rockin’!

#15

Ok. Here is the base mesh. Now i’ve got to take it to zbrush to get the desired expressions (which I must choose again). I’ve got to study more the materials and the scene setup. Any comment is welcome!

#16

Looking pretty cool so far! I’m also hoping for some classic Homer-expressions.

Cheers!

Your Homer looks awesome slashmore. I just have one crit. Well it’s more of an excuse to blab my knowledge of useless pop culture facts than a crit, but may lend to the overall Homer feel. The area in question is the hair on the side of his head and the ear. In the cartoon, if you pay attention, The Hair is in the shape of an “M” and the squiggle line for the ear is in the shape of a “G”, Together making the initials of the creator, Matt Groening. I have no idea how you can accurately portray the “G” in the ear when replicating him in 3D, but you could tweak his hair to be more “M” like.

Cheers

hehe - he’s looking good!

#19

Haha. Homers the man. Looking good so far:cool:

#20

Here are the emotions updated. Cheers!

#21

Did some changes on the scene and on the materials. Here is my first emotion; Proud.

Probably, I will reduce the bump maps. Any comments would be very nive.

#22

hmm I’d say it looks more like sad - he’s even teary eyed  I’d think of pride as having your head up and your chest out like a peacock:D

#23

Your 're probably right… That’s the English-Spanish translation problem haha.

Cheers
