#8

Oh what a cute image, I guess you have a reference for love now. Anyway, looking forward to seeing so WIPs.

#9

they are posing for the camera…amazing picture.

#10

Yes, This young Chimpanzee and two white tigers are in friendship that could confuse most of those who see this photos.

#11

Enjoying this thread already.
Huh I live in Africa where chimps come from.
Gotta love them.

#12

Wah, really? That’s interesting for me.

#13

I hope i can do more in the weekend.~
13thMay- small update~

#14

I will add details in zbrush later.

#15

cool! but also challenge to compare with human i think…

#16

Yes, The reason i chose a chimpanzee because its looks like human, and yet they have a lot of different expressions. It’s really interesting for me. i hope to learn from everyone joining this challenge. I am not sure I can finish it on time, but I will try my best.

#17

I find the chimp to be nature’s caricature of a human. They have the same expressions as we do, only WAY exaggerated. This is a cool thread and will follow closely. Good luck to you sir.

This is the coolest thread. Bone structure looks great.
I think you just need more detail on the chimp.
Totally promising.

#19

Thank you  And it’s true, so many details are missing now~ I am planning bring it into zbrush and add on more details. I will update soon~

Thank you to all

#20

Nice base, i really like the topology. can’t wait to see where you go from here in zbrush.

#21

Lookin good lookin good. Don’t disappoint this guy.

#22

Small update.~
But I am not really like my zbrush work. Something wrong, I am not sure about it. Maybe I will re-do again~

#23

I don’t know, I think it’s a pretty good start really. I’m hoping to get to mudbox soon. Fun watching you since our subjects are similar. I gotta do the teeth soon. Anyway, lookin good!

#24

Great choice and refs! I love the ones with the tiger. It would be interesting to see how they’ll get along in a few years. I think the result would really surprise the majority of people, if they were allowed to stay in close contact, that is.

Anyways, great start on the mesh. The silhouette looks good, but you’ve got some funky topo in there, around the snout and nose especially, which will probably cause you some headaches down the road, when creating expression shapes. I’d recommend continous looping like on a human face for that area in particular. Apes and humans are very much alike after all and share many of the same anatomical features.

Cheers and keep the images coming!

#25

Thanks for your suggestion, I think the problem is the nose area, I will try to go back the lower subdivision and improve it, I will update it soon~

I think you’re off to a great start with your sculpting, however if you don’t like it, I would follow your instinct and restart. It really sucks working on something you’re not crazy about. Or you could just go nuts with the claytubes brush and see what you get as a rough estimate.

Any chance we’ll see more or did life just throw too much at you last month? If so, hope to see you on here again on a future challenge.
