I would like to request this attire:

-TyroneMaddams: thanks man, working on it now
-BrettSinclair,thablanchh,DaezD; thanks for the useful tips guys!
-TiMrozek; haha, yeah…you gotta love him. Combination Wes Anderson-Bill Murray is just golden.
k, here’s a small update.
Still in same level, trying to get the likeness right with main forms.
pussycat - thanks man, appreciate it.
Here’s another update, some more tweaking.
hair is just prototyping for now…
nice progress here! I’d say the face feels like it’s sloping towards the back too much forming too much of a triangle at the mo… would bring the cheeks a bit forward on either side of the head… hope that made sense…
hey Intervain, thanks for dropping a line! It definitely makes sense what you are saying. Next update coming soon…
Sweet start man, definately recognisable. The thing that I see is the width of the head at eye level and above - it could be too much. As a general guide, a head is about 5 eyes wide at that level - 2 being the actual eyes, one eye inbetween them, and 2 either side of that. It’s quite hard to tell from your ref how close Murray comes to that in reality, but based off that black and white shot, I’d say fairly close.
Of course, if you have perspective turned off for those shots, then that would account for it too.
It’s worth taking a look at the shape the hair makes from the front view, though. See where his sideburns are, on the photos they angle in a bit first before curving out, whereas they’re more straight up on yours - pulling in some mass would help with that too.
Hmm seems I’m not that as good at giving concise crits as Intervain
Like I said, I’d recognise him from the sculpt, so it’s a great start.
Hey Lord McGoat, thanx man. You were totally right about the width of the head.
ok, here’s another update on the sculpting. Moving slowly and lost likeness a few times, but this is the closest I got so far I think…I got to a certain point that I just dont see it anymore, so would love to hear what you guys think…
cheers;)
Excellent work, overall the sculpt has the proportions fine, but just the forehead is a bit up. (just down a bit the start of the hair might help) compare it with your references and you will see, is not to much.
I have to agree, it looks like theres a little too much forehead and the eyes are a tad too close together…
I had the same remark about the head as stridiggio. Best is to check the proportional relation between certain distances.
Another little remark: do you constantly check or sculpt in an orthographic view? When i sculpt i hate that view cause we never see things that way. Maybe you need to check it in perspective and see what you get then.
And in my opinion: do you use pure sculpting tools to constantly change and shape the head? If this is so, i recommend trying some use of the move tool and the pinch tool. You’ll do less damage to your detail when you try to change things.
cheers and much fun. It’s a drag to get it to look just like him.
-Nothingness; I don’t like the orthographic views myself too much, I prefer to sculpt in perspective. My main brushes are the standard, clay, claystrokes, move, pinch and inflat.
A little update. Fixed some proportion errors. This should do it for now, time to move on and start retopolising. Yeeij!
Looking good mate. This made me think of Steve Zissou! IMO Bill Murray’s best roll.
-Rage

Intervain: Thank you!
So, started with the retopo, here’s a first wip.
hey jelle!
great start on the re-topoing. nice and clean.
have to agree with others about the forehead though. a tad high.
-r
Nice topo so far. Are you using topogun?
Man I heard they making a ghostbusters 3. I hope so.
I agree bout the forehead:).
Yep, nice topo so far. But the likeness isn’t as good as the topology. I’d concentrate on it more after the retopo is done. Keep going!
Looks great so far. I think the picture on the top right of your reference sheet is the one with the most character and probably the one that will give you the best expressions. Other than that you’ve definitely nailed the likeness ![]()
