Hide Background in Photoshop CS4

#1

Does anybody know how to hide the background in ps cs4?

That is to hide all other applications and the desktop. I work on both mac and pc and have been working in photoshop on my pc for some time. Now when I’m on my mac photoshop is a transparent application showing the desktop and any other programs I might be running. I really like how on my pc I get a flat grey background for all my photoshop windows to float over, keeps me focused on photoshop only.

Also, what happened to right clicking on a documents title bar to bring up Image Size and Canvas Size? I use that all the time to adjust files.

Thanks

Regarding the background, that’s just how Photoshop runs on a Mac. You could always hit F to go into fullscreen mode.

I don’t know about the right click thing since I always use the keyboard shortcut for that.

CS4 Mac has a new feature to make it look right. They brag about it here and there. I don’t know what it’s called and don’t have a mac handy. Let me poke the web. Gotta be on view or window menu I’d think… sorry, can’t find anything. Would swear I saw something about it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your efforts. One thing that you can do is just “hide others” that hides all other apps but you still see the desktop and can inadvertently click on it. It’s a little annoying but not that big a deal. Not having access to image and canvas resize on the title bar is a more of an annoyance.

Go to Window on the main menu and check off “Application Frame”. That will give you the solid working space background.

And as for image/canvas resizing: why not use the short cut keys for that? (OPTION COMMAND I / OPTION COMMAND C) Much faster.

If I knew where you were I would come and hug you.
Thank you very much, it had to be that simple didn’t it?

Much appreciated.

No problem - glad to be of help. It’s always the little things that can irritate once you’re used to one way of working, and things change.
