Hi from Brazil!

Hi folks,

I’m new to this CG stuff. Doing my best to learn concepts and manage to apply them in modelling programs (at home: Maya 6.5 and Illustrator 9, at work: Lightwave 8, Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS2, soon I’ll participate in a Blender short training).

I’m a computer programmer, working mostly with ASP applications. I also program in C, Basic, some ActionScript (I’m amazed at what it is possible to do with it); heading to learn MEL in the near future.

I hope to make new friends here and be able to help whenever my knowledge permits.

I love actionscript… I do a lot of backend stuff w/ Coldfusion, mySQL. I’m waiting on the drop of Flex 2.0 for the app I’m working on up here @ my job.

What sort of things do you do down there in brazil?

Recently I’ve done programming in ASP, ActionScript (loading XML through ASP pages), some C/C++ (small utilities I needed for documentation purposes). What is Flex 2.0? New programming language/environment?

With so many languages around we’ll end up programming in something similar to a Esperanto …

What CG program do you use?

Well, only Blender for 3D. My passion is 2D works and Matte Painting =)

Estou usando o Maya. Aqui no DF vai ter um curso de Blender, dado por um dos caras do site www.3dzine.com.br Não vou poder fazer este curso desta vez, mas já pedi para me avisarem quando tiver a próxima turma.

Putz, Matte Painting! De vez em quando eu olho uns livros de Matte Painting na Amazon … muita coisa fera.

Posting in english here so everybody understands but can mail me here anytime, count on me around.

I came from webdesign, traditional design, programming, CDROM stuph… used to run my own company for the last 5 years, last 10 years totaly on this market, I took my ColdFusion certificate from Allaire !! hehehehehe so you can imagine how long ago was that… lol
Well I just quit all this now and I am now at CG and traditional arts, totaly there… :slight_smile:

Doing a short movie now at Melies - Escola de Cinema 3D e Animação - www.melies.com.br , if you wanna show up here in São Paulo please visit the school, it´s very nice and people are nice there too, a ´new hope´ for 3D movies future in Brazil.
