Hi Everybody

#1

A friend of mine told me that I have to join this Society and how great it is. So I became a member in a heartbeat. Well after looking around I can see how talented everybody is and how they help each other and I think that is just great.

I do hope that I am in the right place though. Looking around I see that almost all the artist here are either tradional Artist using a brush or digital and 3D artist. I am a photomanipultor who uses photos mixed with textures to create my art. Is that looked down at here? Are there other like me?

Either way I hope to learn allot here and feel very privileged to be here.

You certainly are :D. Good to have you here! Looking forward to seeing some of your work, it’s always good to seeing varied techniques. There is a matte painting forum (not quite the same I know!) so there is some similar activity on here.

Welcome to CGtalk  I took a look at your portfolio and you’ll probably find a place here and like Elsie said, Mattepainting forum might be a place to start or somewhere in the various 2d oriented forums. Also, since you’re stating clearly that you’re doing photomanipulations and that you use your own images you’ll be fine. It’s the people who do photomanips and claim it to be original painted artwork that get the flak

Thanks guys I will keep that in mind.

I’m just beginning to get into the pure digital art from scratch part. I also have always been a traditional pencil & paper, paint and canvas artist and am now beginning to scan and digitally enhance that work.

Most of my CG work is photo manip. I think you’ll find plenty around, or maybe what you think is pure digital art from scratch is highly manipulated original photos.

Glad to see you here.
