Help with Wings 3D
You have 3 choices:
I) a simple screenshot of the model in the Wings environment
II) an OpenGL render
III) a YafRay render
IV) a Toxic render
I)simple screenshot…(2) choices here
A) 1) Hit the “Print Screen” button on the keyboard.
2) Open your 2D application and choose Edit -> Paste. This works in Adobe PS or JascPSP.
B) 1) In Wings, make sure you have an Outliner window open (Window menu -> Outliner)
2) Go to Tool menu -> Screenshot
3) A new Image entry will appear in the Outliner called <<Screenshot>>
4) R_Click <<Screenshot>> and choose “Rename”. Name it something, anything as long as you remove the “<<” & “>>” from the beginning and end of the name.
5) R_Click the image again and choose “Make External” and choose a directory to save the image to in the resulting dialogue box. Done.
II) OpenGL render
- File menu -> Render -> OpenGL …first time, be sure to select the little square box to the right of the text. This opens a setup menu to setup the OpenGL renderer.
- In the OpenGL renderer dialogue, near the bottom, in the section called “Render Output”, select the radio button called “File:”. This will allow you to name the file and choose a directory to right it to.
- Hit “OK” …Done.
III) YafRay render… You must have YafRay installed.
1) Same as II.1 above, except choose “YafRay” instead of OpenGL.
IV) Toxic render… You must have Toxic installed.
- Same as II.1 above, except choose “Toxic” instead of OpenGL.
YafRay & Toxic are very good renderers if you know how to setup the materials and lights in Wings. But, since it is a rather lengthy and involved topic, I’ll leave you to do some searching and testing on your own.
- another (option)
Export your model via the relevant option to another app. and render / save your image from that app.
One (open source modelling) app you might consider which has its own built-in renderer is Art of Illusion but other ppl will have their own suggestions.
