Help - Text not accepting blending changes

#1

I have been playing around a lot with doing text in both Vue and Photoshop CS4 Extended but ran into an issue that I can’t figure out. The canvas is a simple 570X300 pixels, 80 DPI, 8 bit color.

I then placed some text to play with at 180pt so it is fairly large. When I made some adjustments to the layer mask “blending options” for the text, I found my changes have no effect on it. I am not sure why it is not working, I double checked the settings and I think it’s OK.

Any thoughts on why this may be happening?

Thanks.

hmm. Did those changes you made show in preview?

Inner shadows usually don’t show in black text since multiplying (default shadow blending) won’t make it any darker. Also black and grey may not be the best colors to show the effects (depending how did you set those blending modes), but you should get some out from bevel & embos, gradien overlay etc. How about sharing psd -file so we could see your settings?

I’ve run out of ideas. You may have to post the file so we can get a look in it.

Thanks, I solved it. If you look at my screen shot in the first post it was “Black Font” but the “Font Color” was left black and not the foreground gray color that was in my color selection. When I changed that from black to the gray everything worked.

Thanks.

You do have a color problem.
You put a black shadow on a black text.
You put a black glow on a black text.
You put a black contour on a black text.
You put an invisible white highlight on a black text.

Black on black. It comes out black.
Black on black. You should re-tint that.

Make the text gray.

Thanks, it worked just like you said.
