HELP - robot animation

#1

Hello, uh, this is my first post, i hope to learn a lot!.

Well, i’m trying to do a animation using a robot, but the thing is, i don’t really understand rigging, and the most important, how make the skeleton for it!.

It’s diferrent from organic tissues (people, animals, etc.), can somebody help me? i want it to look mecanic, the robot was designed with a big rounded head and one leg (it was designed after pixar’s “mascot”, you know, the table lamp?).

That’s a fairly general question… there are lots of tutorials online if you look around here or use google and youtube you should easily find some

The Art of Rigging, Vol 2 by CG Toolkit is entirely devoted to rigging a really detailed battle robot. All three art of rigging books are some of the best I’ve read on the subject. Highly recommend you check those out. Can get the physical books used on Amazon, or eBooks on their site.
