Help Modelling Wet Mud

Hello,

I am working on a project and i need to make a close up of wet mud and i was wandering what would be the best way to model this, cheers. I have supplied reference image below.

I am using 3ds max so any useful tools/plugins would be much appricated

If it’s at all possible to get acces to wet mud, a 3D scan/Photogrammetry + retopo + displacement would give the best results.

Otherwise you’ll want to sculpt and displace with mudbox or zbrush… You’ll drive yourself mad trying to poly model that.

Displacements really are the way to go (or Photogrammetry as suggested previously). I rustled this up in about an hour. Not realistic but a good shot for only an hours work.
