Ello,

Cinema4D CE is a very good free renderer, but you’ll need to get it from a magazine coverdisk I’d think ( 3DWorld, Computerarts or similar ), I don’t think it’s available as a download. Keep an eye on what’s on those coverdisks, you can sometimes get full older version of commercial apps, many of which can be handy…

Yafray really should work, you might not have installed it properly.

Blender can produce very decent renders, and it’s free, I think you could import your models as VRML files from Wings, if you want to use other formats you’ll need to go plugin hunting though.

I haven’t looked at it for ages, but I think Anim8or had a basic renderer?

I’m sure there’s loads more options to look at, basically, you could use anything that supports any of Wings export formats.

Can’t help you with the skinning I’m afraid, I’m not really familiar with Wings UV unwrapping, maybe someone else can help with this. You could always try using UVMapperclassic.

I know that Wings3D works with POVray, though I have heard that the latest release might have some problems.

Also, Wings3D will export to an obj file which will is reconized by just about any 3D program. If you want a good free one, I would Recomend Art of Illusion. You can see the post buy Ducan on his UV tute for more information about that program.

I also have to recomend his tute for the basics in UV mapping.

I hope that I could have been some help,
Gary
