HELP! how to use z-depth blurring with maya iff

#1

hi can anyone send me a link on where to find a tutorial, or even post a tutorial on here on how to use maya’s iff imbedded z-depth to create an animated depth of field

oh and i use vue too, and it renders the z-depth as a seperate image file, which file formate is best? i tend to use targa’s.

oh and a tutorial on how to incorporate a seperate z-depth image file for an animated DOF would help too… thanks!

There are two tutorials on using Z. First is the blimp tutorial in the pdf manuals that come with shake. Second is on highend here:
http://highend3d.com/shake/tutorials/general/Z-composite-with-IFF-in-Shake-6.html

As for file format, you are limited to only a few file formats(iff, rla, exr) that support embedded zdepth. Tga only supports rgba and is also limited to 8 bpc.
