Just got my membership
I’m looking forward to getting to know these forums better!
Hello everyone :)
Whee! Hi Nonie! It was great meeting you at Montreal! Welcome aboard!
I’m still showing around your “business card” comic here.
Haha! Nice to see you’re here too. I have a tough time joining new forums cuz it takes a couple months to really learn the new processes and etiquette, but I at least figured out how to put stuff in my gallery
I’m so glad you liked my comic enough to keep it!
Hiya Nonie,
I take it you’re the same Nonie from CA?
Great to have you aboard! I hope you will become a regular on the Anatomy Forum, where you are always welcome!
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
How could anyone NOT like it? It had multitudes of monkeys!
Plus the artwork was just brilliantly executed.
Etiquette is pretty normal here, nothing too out of the ordinary. There’s a few strict rules on talking politics, religion and that sort of stuff to keep forum sanity. Just read the FAQ and policies and you should be right. Play nice.
But other than that, get updating that portfolio! (I really should do the same!)
Rebeccak - yep, same old Nonie
I’ll check this anatomy forum business out poste haste
Erilaz - Monkeys are pretty awesome. In Montreal, I saw monkey families with little baby monkeys at the Biodome. Baby monkeys are awesome cuz they look just like regular monkeys except tiny!
d’you think I should put older stuff in there or just bother with new stuff as I produce it? My plan was the latter - some of my older stuff is on my site and people can see it there. And if every picture I put up goes into the forums too (eventually, when someone gets around to validating it
) I’d be embarrassed to have my old stuff posted like it was new.
Hee hee, yeah, I got out to the Biodome too. Great place they’ve got there! So many bonsai monkeys.
As to your portfolio, put up what you think represents your best work. The portfolio is all about exposure, so treat it like you’re bringing it to an interview. That’s why I have nothing there yet. I have no good work!
People use it for different reasons, such as putting ALL their work there, but I think it works better as a networking tool for artists’ kickassness.
The ones you have up there already are a great start.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. This place seems more like fully polished stuff, so I didn’t want to put up my older or less finished pieces. But I have seem some portfolios that seem to have a wide range, so I wasn’t too sure. Thanks for your advice
And hurry up and put something up already
Are you in the T-Dome over at CA?
I sure am! I’m up against StaceyDiana though, so i’m going to be slaughtered.
How about you?
Yup, I am. I’m against prostate sunrise and Helium Macaroni, neither of whom I’ve ever seen post but I was able to find sketchbook threads by them. They do great mecha stuff. I don’t know if I’m gonna make it either
I’m pretty happy with what I did, but I don’t know if I’ll stay that way when they put everything up. I probably didn’t go epic enough…
Yikes! Prostate Sunrise? That’s a toughie!!!
I just hope I get a good laugh from people.
It’s all good fun. I hear they’ll be presenting the round 1 images tomorrow!
Nonie,
Regarding your CGPortfolio, what a lot of people do (including myself) is to include older work in the Blog area, or in the Short Description area of a Gallery Image.
For example:
http://rebeccak.cgsociety.org/gallery/377052/
Basically you can upload one image to the Gallery, and piggyback a whole bunch of other, perhaps less finished, work, into the Short Description area. When you submit an image, just add image links to the Short Description area using the tags.
Also, definitely join in at the Anatomy Forum!

hahaha that sentence cracked me up
…ahum, hi there and welcome aboard, this is an awesome place to hang out, different from CA but just as cool and a lot of CA’ers are members overhere aswell so you should feel at home in no time. Have fun!!!
Cool, thanks for the tips, guys
Erilaz, I went for humor too
I’ve only seen a little of my opponents’ works but I’m feeling pretty insecure
You seem to know that guy better than I do - now you’re scaring me! I’m so nervous! But if I do get knocked out it’s probably better for me since I have sooo much stuff I’m supposed to be working on - I’m full up on freelance comic stuff for months. Which feels awesome but really, really stressful too!
Rudeone - thanks
I’m excited to explore this place
Welcome aboard Nonie! I really like you work, especially the Fishhook Girl and I’m looking forward to seeing more in the future.
Yeah, it’s the quiet ones that you’ve got to watch.
You’ve got colour and style though, so you’ll do swimmingly!
And yeah, having other work while a TDome is on can be a real pain! I have so much work to doooo. Argh!
Great to see you’ve got the freelance work though. Who is that through?
Thanks, Velk!
Erilaz - Not Marvel or DC yet
I’m working on a new series for Platinum Studios (they’re kinda new to print as far as I know - mostly a lisencing company) and a graphic novel for an independent - so I have about 80 pages of full art to do, plus some ink and color work and a couple covers for more indie stuff, and a creator owned pitch… I just started freelancing fulltime in April so I’m really glad to have the long, paying projects, but I’m so busy and I’m not used to it yet. I think my arm is going to fall off. So yeah, probably would be better to get knocked out, but I still hope hope hope I can stay in! Who are you working for?
I’m just doing game dev for an entertainment company right now in Melbourne. Fairly dull stuff though at the moment. I’m slowly building a 3d/2d portfolio so I can get out.
It’s wonderful that you’ve got such stable work, even if it is hectic! When can we see some pages? Are you under NDA until they’re released? I’d love to see some panels sneaking into your sketchbook now and then.
I’m hoping to stay in the TDome too, just for another motivating topic, but it’s unlikely i’ll win.
The creator-owned pitch I’m going to be putting up as I finish each page, so hopefully that means 10 comic pages to go up by the 20th or so. All my Platinum and graphic novel stuff is NDA until it gets published, which is still a long way off. Some of my NDA stuff was in my portfolio in Montreal though, so I think you saw a little bit of it already
The pic I posted recently at CA was a panel from the crator-owned pitch.
I can’t wait to see the Tdome pieces! I’m so nervous it’s been giving me indigestion. Well, that and the stress of finishing this 10-page in time! And I’m doing a piece for the girlie calendar too, so that’ll be goin up at the end of August - my covers will be up sooner than that I think. I’ve got lots of stuff going up fairly soon
That’s brilliant! I hope we get the comic distribution here. Sometimes Australia gets skimped on the finer things in life!
You’ve really got your work cut out for you, haven’t you? Wowsers. I barely find time to do my day-to-day work, let alone calendars and TDomes!
Only a few more hours before TDome results! Can’t wait!
