Well, truth be said, I have been a cgsociety member for some months now, but it is until now that I have taken upon myself to introduce myself. There is so much talent around that it almost feels excluding. Almost, because I am also surprised with how helpful everybody is, and nice an polite. I have learned a lot just by reading what others have to say.
Anyway, I recently quit my fulltime job to dedicate myself completely to architectural viz. I was working as the head of production and design (and whatnot) in a waterjet shop in a marble factory. It was a job that was taking me nowhere. Sure, I had a swell time, but not for some time. There was no possibility of promotion (unless I married the daughter of one of the owners), and so on.
So here I am!
I mostly do architectural modelling, rendering and animation. I have done some medical modelling and animation, and my current personal goal is doing nice, believable humans. And of course, making this wonderful hobby in cg into a very fulfilling career.
I do most of my work with Shade8.5 pro (nice of cgsociety doing that Shade deal!), and Silo, with progressively more Lightwave9 and Vue5inifinite work. I use Poser mostly as a source of human scales for my renders. But I want to be able to have my very own humans, even if I use Poser to pose them (or not).
So, I am quite happy being a cgsociety member, and now that I have more time to dedicate myself to the wonderful world of cg, I will be participating more in the community!
Soon I should be able to quit my job too, and do just that.
