This sculpture was done by Jacques Caffieri. Of course, the time wasn’t enough for me to take the model to the desired level of detail. Theoretically, I could spend months, even years on this. I really like the dynamic pose, which was by far the most challenging part. I spent probably a third of the time posing along with a third making the base mesh and props, leaving about a third for sculpting (although I continued to revise the pose). Comments and crits are appreciated.

The Winged Victory of Samothrace is a sculpture from 3rd century B.C. Despite the fact that it is a broken statue, it is still a great masterpiece and inspired me a lot since I was little. This is my first time entering this challenge and my second attempt using Zbrush to complete a model. Took me about 12 hours in total for sculpting and modeling in maya and zbrush, another 5 hours trying to figure out how to render nicely in zbrush. Though didn’t get much details on the wings, I’m glad just to be able to get it done on time

WIP THREAD: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=208&t=603179

DESCRIPTION: My first contest in these forums! I tried to recreate the statue Captif, dit le Brandebourg by Martin van den Bogaert.

I did the modeling of the base mesh with Blender, sculpted the meshes with Blender, and rendered in Blender too. The only 3D objects in the scene not created with Blender are the vines, which I created with Ivy Generator. I used photoshop for all color adjustments.

the thing she’s holding was modeled in wings3d, the rest were created in zbrush using zspheres, primitives, and retopology. This is the farthest I’ve gone using zbrush as I’m new to the program.
