HCR Modeling # 44: Soldiers through the Ages - Polish Winged Hussar

#1

Hey guys, I’ve been wanting to challenge myself recently with a fun project. I saw this challenge and thought id jump in even though im a bit late. I’ve always loved the armor the Polish winged hussars wear, I thought it would be a lot of fun to model. The picture below is from a game called mount and blade i think. I already have a ton of reference for the real armor.

Believe me or not…I knew nothing about this fantastic winged armor! Your character could look REALLY cool.

#3

Yea theyre pretty obscure haha. I guess the wings and stuff are just for show. I hope it turns out good

I’ve been struggling with computer problems, and software bugs for the past week or so lol, its cost me a lot of time, but I have some progress. Im just blocking out armor pieces and clothing at this point. Once it’s all in place for the most part; i’ll start sculpting details in zbrush. Not much to show yet, but its taking shape

Cool progress, nice wip step.

Yeah i see very fast performer work in this challange,
looks for a week quicky speed charakter modeling finish.
’ according to my taste’

keep up the good work.

Problems and bugs…I know what you mean, but don’t give up! I really want to see this completed.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, I have a small update.

This is just a basic lighting test, probably the scene I will use for the orthographics. ignore the crashing peices and stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

Ive made progres with most of the upper torso, obviously the backplate and all the little details need to be added. I also need to sculpt out cloth underneath the armor. And no im not going to give him pants, hes just going to run around in those shorts :D. Hopefully once i get the cloth done i can finish off all the armor pieces and start unwrapping and detailing.

I kind of doubt this will be finished in time, which i sort of knew when i started late lol, but either way its a fun project and ill see it finished.
