Well, I’d like it to be more stylized, but I’m not really good at cartoon/stylish sculpting…Still I wanna try it
HCR MINI-Challenge #44: Soldiers through the Ages: Lakhota warrior
Awesome, it’l be great to see how you do the feathers, I have an Aztec chieftain that is about half finished and I got quite stuck on getting some realistic looking feathers that hold up close to the camera.
Those references are very impressive, especially the first.
We want to see more :D.
Hey guys! Hadn’t really the time to do something yet, but will post an update anyways.
So, blocking out the anatomy and some basic shapes that will use later as a guide for the actual meshes later, just to check the design and overall look…
Still undecided about the headdress, have tried two options :
One , more “realistic”, from actual historic reference

...and one more "artistic", i like it most, but it's less "historically accurate":

which one you like most?
Also, here’s my Pinterest board where all my reference are stored:

In my opinion I like your actual design, it have interesting shapes and is your personal style. keep it up!!
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback!
Sticking on with the second version then!
here’s a small update :
Wow, she look so goooood! I think that maybe her legs are a little bit too muscular…but still…WOW!
And here’s another update! Removed the feathers, lost an insane amount of time sculpting them, but in the end they did not look as cool as I wanted. Might still want to add some details here and there before the final rendering…
What do you think?
Thanks guys!
Btw, I have fixed the knees at my best, as noticed by Marco; hope they look better now!
Without the headdress I think she looks more like a warrior and less like an ornament.
Love the stalking pose. I’d check the position of the bow. Looks like she is not grabbing it in the middle which will give you a very skewed shot.
Great job.
