Hey all,
This is my first challenge and I’m excited to give it a shot. I just watched Tron Legacy over the holidays so I thought I would take a crack at it.
Hey all,
This is my first challenge and I’m excited to give it a shot. I just watched Tron Legacy over the holidays so I thought I would take a crack at it.
All right! I’ve got all the scene modeling finished. Now I will move into textures and lighting the scene to match my reference.

I Finally got back to this project and finished up the texturing, and lighting. I’ll keep dialing down the settings, but the light set-up is complete. 6 Spots, 2 key softboxes with a blue tint, and an orangeish tint, and an overall fill. Then I plugged in GI on the 6 tube lights in the ceiling. My still renders started around 1.2 hrs, but after dialing down the GI settings, they are at 28 mins. Success!
This has been a lot of fun trying to re-create a more photo-real environment and light set-up.
This is going to be my final scene render. I really enjoyed this challenge and it was great to see with a little bit of consistent work, a great piece could come out of it. I’ve always really loved Tron Legacy. The architectural and graphic style of that film is one I always go back to and study. This project really challenged me on learning modeling and lighting tools with-in a new software package. I used Cinema4D for 3D, and PS & AE for post effects and comping. I’m not entirely sure how long the project took me, but I will estimate 40 hrs., not including final rendering and test renders.
