If you are new to HMC then you have missed all of the previous discussions on this topic. To summarize, paraphrase etc. Things have changed in the world of modeling over the last few years and that is reflected here.

  1. Modeling/Sculpting - Poly modeling is important but sculpting is here to stay. Both skills should be mastered.
  2. Basemesh - Because using a preexisting basemesh is typical for the industry and because HMC is to simulate a project with impossible deadlines this has now become accepted.

This was the general consensus but obviously not everyone agrees with it.
It is what it is. :shrug:

Hey Guys , Iā€™m totally new on that forum , and my eye is stuck in that thread . That HCR is pretty exciting thing . So I wanna participate ( Probably first time ) . So my question is , can I make the APU from Matrix , itā€™s a mech suit . Probably I will drop some character too , but letā€™s check the pictures :

How far can we go in terms of changing the original design? Can we change around the character features to more suit our taste but still have the character recognizable?

silly question can be hand modeled (traditional modeling) or does it have to be sculpted?

Any method is fine, as long as you start your model FROM SCRATCH. So no premade base model.

Victor, the rules say it needs to be a specific character, not a generic soldier or officer. Probably try to find a specific Gungan to make? Hopefully not Jar Jar :wink:

Iā€™m I supposed to get my idea cleared? Iā€™ve already started a thread, Gears of War: Marcus, with Clint Eastwood as Marcus. If not maybe I could just do this as an excersize.
