THE CHALLENGE:___________________________

Sculpt, in a period of 1 month and two weeks, one or more 3D representations of a building, vehicle, machine and or environment based on extensive research… For this challenge, attention to detail an imagination are essential.

The idea of this “mini-challenge” is to simulate an impossible deadline for a project. The artists will have at their discretion how detailed the models they will be working on, what program they will be using, the amount of models, and if the models will be shaded/ rigged. But the model will have to be original creation based on EXTENSIVE research.

At at the end of the challenge the final model will have to look like a scene that we might see in a cg movie or a commercial.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:______________________

Detailed RESEARCH, and attention to detail are key for ALL entries. Please before doing an entry do your homework.

The best model will be selected by an open vote
for these categories:

Good luck everyone!

I’ve got freelance code project for about a month, I’ll check if I can make it before the dead line… In the mean time, I … will be… watching! hi hi hi

Love the theme. i am in this time

Btw Roberto, isnt transformer from 80s as well … so can we go for that … can we create a hybrid of two different cartoons characters into one or something.

Waiting for reply … thanks …

This will be my first competition. I hope I get good support from the forum :). I loved these cartoons, used to watch them when I was a wee little boy.

This looks great!! I hope to see many entries for this challenge and see what awesome concepts people come up with!

oh man, I wish I had the motivation to participate in this challenge. I’m dying to see what people come up with.

Oh man! Filmation! He-Man! That’s like AWESOME and then some, great theme.

hehehe… exactly.
hope you’ll join the fun.

What a fantastic theme!

I had hoped to do a take on Ulysses for the Steampunk challenge.

If I had any free time, I’d love to jump into this…

Very cool

One question - When you say “exact likeness” of an action figure, how exact are you looking for? Those examples you posted are pretty low quality, do we have to make it look like them, in that pose? Or are you just referring to an exact likeness of the design in terms of clothing, weaponry, etc. (in which case it would really just be your own sculpt from a character from the TV series, right?)

I doubt I’ll be entering so anyone else can happily jump on this, a cartoon that encompasses everything, people, machines and an action figure range  Centurions, from 1985, the best link is the wiki one and the links at the base of that are good to follow for everything related to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Centurions_(TV_series

I’m thinking of entering this comp, sounds like extreme fun :). One question Roberto… Does an 80’s character that wasn’t necessarily part of an animated cartoon series qualify for this competition?

Thanks

I so want to join this one, but I can’t commit just yet… working on my demo reel, plus DW4 is coming up…

Fun stuff. I think I’ll try tackle this with something from the Centurions, the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers (with rocking intro) or the Inhumanoids

Ah man! Was gutted to see that Captain Planet wasn’t created until 1990
Great challenge theme!

I was gutted that Battle of the Planets was late 70’s… still plenty to choose from though !

i was as well…i’m going to do that when we do the 90’s challenge

Wow, great challenge. I love 80’s cartoons. Would be great to enter this, tough to choose which cartoon tho’, top 3 would be Ulysses 31, M.A.S.K or He-Man.

Hey I’m soooo tempted by this one… to final unleash my zbrush

I’d like to enter, just for the spirit of it tbh, Im relatively new to 3d and this will be my first challenge! I hope people will be postive with my work and help each other.

Im really looking forward to it, I think Im going to go with my favourite 80’s cartoon -

The Mysterious Cities of Gold!

Sorry Roberto but Im a little confused as to the rules -

It says:

WIP are NOT encouraged, only final entries

but also says:

WIP’s should be posted on both your individual WIP thread AND on this master thread.
