#1

Post here any question you may have about our next mini Challenge!
80’s Cartoons Tribute !

#2

Does this mean we’re live now?

#3

So if we have other 80’s cartoons outside of the master list, do we suggest them here? Also, are we constrained to Saturday morning cartoons only, or can we allowed to do primetime stuff, like the Simpsons?

If so:
The Simpsons (1987)
Beetlejuice (1989)
Alvin & the Chipmunks (1983)
Muppet Babies (1984)
Dennis the Menace (1986)

There are more here:
http://www.retrojunk.com/tv/list/1980/2/pop/

Now in the official rules it says that we can re-imagine cartoon characters in our own way. Does that mean we can take the route like this artist took to Futurama? (I don’t know the name of the artist… sorry whoever you are.)

#4

Added
Beetlejuice (1989)
Alvin & the Chipmunks (1983)
Muppet Babies (1984)
Dennis the Menace (1986)

to the master list,
by the Simpsons are out.(we will do them in the future)

and yes, that futurama drawing is the kind of re-imagining I would love to see…

#5

Here are a few more from the lists I’ve read that I remember watching as a kid:

The Snorks (1984)
Dinosaucers (1987)
The Berenstain Bears (1985)
Pac-Man (1982) *
Pound Puppies (1986)
Bravestarr (1987)
The Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show (1983) *
Pole Position (1984) *
Astroboy (1982) *
Spiderman and his Amazing Friends (1983) *
The Flintstone Kids (1986) *
The California Raisins (1989)
Thundarr the Barbarian (1980)

I’ve attached an asterisk to shows that are derived from another property, and potentially infringing on any future challenges. I’m seeing plenty of superhero, disney, and movie-related properties over there too.

-Thanks

Is this stricly 80’s production or can we also do stuff done in the late 70’s, which primarily aired in the early 80’s?

Cheers!

#7

I would like to limit ity eras since Iwant to do future challenges based on other eras

like the 70’sand the 90’s

#8

Sure thing! Looking forward to the 70’s challenge.

Cheers!

#9

Quick Question:
Do we have to specify which of the four streams we are going for, or will an entry be considered for all of them?

#10

we prefer for people to pick a stream, BUT

you can change streams if you wish mid challenge.

#11

Hello master Roberto :). I just wanted to ask if non-animated characters from the 80’s are eligible for this contest?

This is my first challenge to enter, so I didn’t know where to post my question, other than the thread I already started… sorry

Anyway I was thinking about Calvin & Hobbes by Bill Watterson. Newspaper Comic strip started November 1985. They are my childhood and I would love to have a go on them.

cheers,

Mike

#12

Is it possible to use Rankin Bass productions like Last Unicorn?,

cheers,

Juan

#13

Yes that is Kosher…

And we will not do newspaper strips characters on this round, since it will be the basis for a future challenge.

#14

I just want to know if I can start my base mesh from zspheres.

Thanks

#15

I dont see why not…

#16

just out of curiousity, why are transformers off limits?

#17

Becuase that will be a future challenge…

#18

At at the end of the challenge the final model will have to look like a scene that we might see in a cg movie or a commercial.

this will be my first HCR so i guess i am a bit out of the loop as to the overall idea. i have looked back at the previous winners and it seems most are fully shaded, textured, and lit. i’m assuming this is much more than just a modeling competition in that respect. am i correct? or does a basic grey clay render and wireframe have just as much of a chance of winning as a fully lit scene?

thanks,
adam

people can take the model as far as they wish.

But a simple unshaded model it is just fine, after all we are a modeling competition.

How the Original interpretation category model must be presented, diorama? neutral background? photographic back plate? cg or painted background?.

Can we compete in two categories or more with the same model? an example:
 • Battlecat is a character and a vehicle at the same time, so, this one can compete in all the categories if done right or at least three if we skip the action figure.
