HCM #21: QotR - Air Plane

Hello everyone,

This is my first HCM challenge although I have been following them for sometime. Hopefully I can add to the amazing work that comes out of these mini-challenges.

Update:

I am going to model the concept done by David Thany of a Queen of the Rocketmen air plane.

I am really looking forward to getting feedback from everyone and advancing my skills with this challenge.

So I have gotten started. Here is what I have going so far.

Some of the proportions seem a little off when compared to the concept; your model is a little too thin/long for the body, back thrusters and wings. Other than that pretty good start, I look forward to seeing this one finished!

Thanks for the feedback. I totally agree. I need to beef up everything a little I think. I’m going to get some more work done today and post the revisions.

Quick update. I reworked some of the proportions and added some more detail in a bunch of areas. Thanks for the comments Guys!!

Here are some more updates. With a couple different views this time.



Next I am going to clean up some of the geometry that is mashed into each other.

So I put some shaders on the plane and did a test render. I think its coming along alright so far. I am thinking about bring it into ZBrush and scuffing it up a bit. Time is an issue I am going to Vietnam for my 1 year wedding anniversery in a week. Hopefully I have enough time to get this done.

Looking real nice Tony, keep going. I still think those rear engines could be a tad bit bigger. Other than that I think it looks great man…must have more updates…

Thanks Roberto. I am back from Vietnam on the 23rd. So I should have a week or so to get things finished up with this model. We are leaving tonight I dont think I will get a chance to post the final images today. Thanks for setting that up though!

I am going to pass on the Rigging of the model this time.
