HARDCORE MODELING!: STARWARS STEAMPUNK: Creature series

#81

Hello my friends!

farazmobin, thanks buddy. I bet a bunch of people have been missing your entry this time. Maybe next? (although probably not). Are u aleady in GL?

RedRepublik, thanks man. Sword was an experiment but I’ll keep it, since it got good opinions.

WyattHarris, lol. That piece in front is the main weapon poison-steam-tank (improvised along the way of this post). Weapon not there yet :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Thanks for your niceness btw!

Firerbert, again man, thank you!! I believe I’m not very good at making my own concepts though, I don’t like the amount of effort it takes for me to design something from scratch…so good for DWIV :hmm: But I’ll try hehe.

moonangel, lol. Just think most of those pieces are reused from expensive spaceships. Even the fire extinguisher

TCPortfolio, thanks man! I’d let you take a look at my “inspiration” folder. That’s definitely full of freaking insane sweet madness.

etd382, yeah, I’ll pose it in a couple hours. Not that I’m gonna make an insane rig or anything…just enough so I can rotate all the pieces a couple degrees :stuck_out_tongue:

samarcbz, please spare me, think about your 8 GBs :stuck_out_tongue:

robo3687, Your Iron-Batman was turning out really nice as well. What happened to it? you’re on vacation? Thanks for the compliment too

sanketpro3d, haha I see you are still joking about Pawan’s mistake with the whole Master Artist thing…thanks

true word :applause:
and it doesn’t really matter, how expensive it is, im sure it is worth every damn cent it costs! The look alone would justify any price!

go on and pose it, and maybe you can create a Desktop-wallpaper version of it, when you’re finished, im sure some of us would like to look at it all the time

#83

yeh iron bat got put on hold due to work and then i got interested in these challenges again so it’s still sitting there waiting to be finished…I will get around to it eventually…maybe after the next challenge…

Man that is looking so cool DDS, my suggestion for a gun would have to be the " Unnatural Selector - Dr Grortborts". Not sure what you mean by Stealth for a Stormtrooper.

This is an absolutely incredible model, but the tubes going to the mask bother me. They seem to float unnaturally. Are they connected to the helmet and we just can’t tell from the angels you render, or are they in fact defying gravity? Or perhaps are they going to hang down more and you just have them up out of the way to show some details?

#86

now that i look again, i agree that they do look unnatural. they also look a little like churros. mmm

#87

I guess my idea of feeding him with churros didn’t work out that well.

Will try something else! :buttrock:

Again, thanks for the suggestions

Dogbreath that gun is insane! Great ref. Thanks!

#88

Hey DDS, loving your thread and your Model, the WIP updates are all nice. Loving it man keep it up!

#89

hey xerious thanks for the encouragement!

I didn’t like his gun in the concept so I did a brand new one, mixing from there and Weta’s Dr. Grortborts stuff!! Sorry my drawing skills are not up to par with the original concept but whatever, I’ll fix in 3D. I wanted something very steampunk!! The gun is connected to the steam tank hanging from Stormtrooper’s belt.

#90

i dig the design. can’t wait to see it executed

#91

Very steampunkish! Is the gun gonna shoot steam?

#92

This is Amazing!! I can’t wait to see the final render!

#93

Thanks RR!

Yeah TC it’s shooting biohazardish kind of steam.

Anyways not much left from the original concept haha. I did like 4 iterations of the gun before finishing with this…any thoughtS?

#94

btw I doublt I’m gonna finish Han Solo so I just dropped him. Will focus on texturing and rigging this one, so I can use him for my folio.

I’m familiar with doing models in one week and it’s no good for my health and result usually gets affected :stuck_out_tongue:

#95

That thing looks amazing! AWESOME!:applause:

#96

well, now that I think about it… let’s just say I’m glad you gave him such a great styling accessory to blow dry that killer mohawk with! I kid, I kid! FOR ME TO POOP ON! I kid! I kid!
Seriously, it looks really great and the render is super sweet.

#97

Hey man! I liked the previous concept better imho it was more steampunk this looks a bit space age to me, and I can’t see this one as a real gun… I think the best option would be to give it a barrel at the front and make it into a rifle type thing, because now it looks like a handgun but the scope and the shoulder-rest thing imply its a rifle, Try to picture someone holding that gun, looking through the scope and shooting… looks very awkward in my mind lol but I don’t know much about weapons though so I could be completely wrong

#98

Well I thought your concept was based on the Weta rayguns. To me, what made those mesh with steampunk was the brass and weld joints on the piping. Like it was made in someones garage. Your gun is cool looking and it looks like its materials match with the stormtrooper but it doesn’t look nearly as intimidating as the trooper.

I guess it strikes me more as a tool than a weapon, IDK. I’m not putting it down by any means though because it looks great.

#99

Thanks guys!! I’m glad you like the model and render. Well first of all let me explain why I changed the design

the point is that this gun is connected to the storm trooper extinguisher and tank via a really thick tube, the gun is actually pretty small, it’s just like an end of the pipe. I actually didn’t think the previous design looked like it could shoot hella lot of steam, more like a laser gun with a photo amplifier or something. Plus it looked stupid in 3D, I believe this looks cooler in the viewport.

Anyways I had a variation of this design that will look much more like a rifle. I’ll give it a whirl today

btw the scope is not a zoom sniping scope, since you don’t need one for such a non-precise gun. That’s why it’s not straight, but the telescope design makes it look more XVIII cent. I was thinking it as sensor or something. Actually I could point the end up or down, to make that more apparent!

quick mocap of a rifle version of my gun.
