I don’t see any really detailed and precision anatomy on any of the models, certainly not at the level that had to be done for the David challenge. They mostly look quite generic, some aren’t even accurate. I don’t think any of the entries are actually finished.
I like the heads that Mattoo and Stahlberg did though, nice work on characterization.

2nd best overall -> Mattoo.
Stahlberg and Mattoo did the most correct entries, and not just generic males.
However, as Steven Stahlberg was more or less alone with the detail modeling, he should win. At least my thoughts.

Lol, it’s nice to see all John Conlea’s buddies from Cogwell poppig in to vote for him in every category, even though this his so obviously not the best.
Pathetic, and exactly why I recommeded that this should not be an open voting contest.
Very impressive entries. A fascinating challenge. All the modelling work is outstanding.
Stahlberg’s model pips it for me, it’s well crafted, delicate and subtle. His face even has ‘personality’, though is he frowning too much? Nitpicking, I’d say the arms look slightly stiff and the forearms a touch too heavy (though the arm muscles are slightly exaggerated in Leonardo’s masterpiece).
Mattoo’s piece is slightly bolder than Stahlberg’s, confidently modelled and well proportioned. The face is magnificent. A shame it’s unfinished, but IMO it’s a stronger entry than Conolea’s piece which lacks some of the refinement of the previous submissions.
Anish’s is a good piece, but the arms let it down, and Braddy’s looks like a good working foundation but the proportions aren’t completely convincing.

Honesty oddity, These “buddies” you refer to of mine, are not just friends trying to sway voting, but AMAZING artists that have respectable opinions. If good artists cant express thier artistic views in contests like these, what are the point of them?

oDDity: I do not know Conelea and for that matter, any other of the contestants in this challenge but what you said about Conelea’s friends voting for him could easily be said for Stahlberg. (I have nothing against people voting for Stahlberg). I believe that wether Conelea, Stahlberg or any other contestants friends are giving them extra votes, the contestants will all leave this challenge with more experience and knowledge than before, even if you think this challenge has no real challenge to it… not everyone has the ability to create a great, detailed human model in just three weeks.
I hope I don’t sound to harsh or anything and I don’t intend to be but I have seen people say the same sort of things as you did in other votes and competitions (not in forums only but in everyday life) and the votes end with angry people and nothing ends happily.
They aren’t expressing thier artistic views. They’re expressing entirely nepotistic ones. They’re coming here with a single purpose of voting for you to be the winner in every category.
They don’t actually care which one is the best work, no doubt they didn’t even look at the others, and that’s an insult to the other contestants.
It wouldn’t matter if your’s was the worst model ever seen by human eyes, they’d still vote for it as winner in every category, because they know you.
Any neutral observer can see that it is not the best., while it’s competent work, it’s quite basic and generic anatomy, some of it not even physically accurate, and there is very little sense of character compared to stalhberg’s and mattoo’s.
I’m not saying you asked them to vote for you, but I’d certainly be embarrased by the fact that all my votes come from friends, and it brings the contest into disrepute.

I have fully read the opinions of oDDity, xyzjpc and ZaneV, and believe it or not I do fully agree with all of them. And I say let’s not make a big deal about it. It suffices to say your opinion ONCE.
Anything more is pointless imo, 'cause the contestant himself has anyway nothing to do with that (I once told a buddy he should rate my thread (and any threads) and he gave it 5 stars. That’s of course not what I wanted, but done is done.)
and if these people really vote without having a look at anything else, then they’ll also not notice your posts and still go on with their voting.
Anyway, there’s no right and wrong vote or we wouldn’t have to vote. each voters mix of sympathy, taste and know-how in the various fields relevant to this voting, returns a different result. of course people shouldn’t consider sympathy when voting, but then again they wouldn’t be people if they didn’t…
that’s my personal opinion and there’s nothing more I’ve to say about this.
Well from my graphic design and illustrative background here’s my opinion for what it’s worth…

oddity, im surprised that you would even go that far to judge people on how they vote. (I would think PROFESSIONALS would be a bit more mature than that) it doesn’t matter that we WENT to the same school. I LOVE Stahlberg’s work, but wasn’t impressed this time around. the others that i have seen in the thread didn’t seem to have what John’s model did. again this is just my opinion. And who are you to say John’s model or anyone elses for that matter isn’t the best. Let people vote how they want to, and stop beig so bitter.
