This is the section that I'll be taking a diorama from. I also hope to make it into sort of one of those deluxe collectible figures.

Okay, so an hour in an I’ve got a rough sort of head…it’s probably not as neat as it could be as I kinda rushed it a bit…but I’m mostly happy with it

#3

Hey, nice start, Robo. You’re already a week ahead of me.

PS, that link isn’t working for me.

#4

thats really weird with the video…its the right link and yet it doesn’t work…hmmm…
heres another one

anywhoo i’ve got the ear done now and attached it to the head

#5

The new link works, nice render. Looking forward to more.

#6

this is now officially my inspiration for this challenge…obviously not the super saiyan part…but the overall look…it’ll also be my anatomy reference

#7

Very Cool start. I work graveyard shift. I checked this forum before leaving home and saw that the challenge page was up. I got to work, checked cgsociety again, and here you are with your basemesh done. Perhaps the deadline for you should be next week!

Good luck Robo I can’t wait to see more!

thanks Joel.

Heres some more.

After a few hours of wracking my brain I somehow turned this booleaned mess of poly’s

into this

there wasn’t really a plan…i just sort of cobbled it together…lol…also added some eyebrows and better eyes

#9

Lol Boolean mess. I’m glad it worked out for you. Unless I have a prety solid plan with booleans I tend to leave them alone.

looks great

worked at the heads a bit more…got a goku and a vegeta head now…vegeta’s hair was a little more manageable than goku’s

#11

Jeez thats some fast modelling, I barely blinked and you have already made two character heads. Nice work, looking forward to seeing the final thing

#12

@Chris-Johnston: yeh i usually start out fast in these challenges and then taper off to a point where it doesn’t get finished…lol…i want to change that with this challenge…

late last night i couldn’t sleep so i thought i’d try and tackle the upper body…i came up with this

i didn’t use any reference cos i wanted to see if i could do it on my own…and i thought it didn’t look so bad…until i got up this morning and looked at it again…hmm…yeah…it was 4am after all

so i started again with my reference at the ready and i’m much happier with the results this time around…

#13

Definitely have a lot of work to do on the anatomy, but then again their anatomy was always way all over the place! But man sure making progress!

#14

wow loooking sweet already, I think the face is not quite there but body/hair in last update start kicking ass!

#15

I have some awesome Hi res images from when I worked at Cartoon Network, maybe they’ll be useful to you. I’ll go through my Reference folder and see if I can find them tonight.

#16

Looking awesome

#17

@SNoWs: i’d much appreciate that…if you can find them email them to robo3687@gmail.com…thanks

@DDS: thanks man, i know what you mean about the face…just can’t quite work out whats missing…hmm…any ideas?

@Lordrych: yeah…i’m glad they never had the most accurate anatamoy…cos I don’t have the greatest understanding of it…lol

@Rageofages: thanks

i’ll be working some more on the body today so look for an update in a few hours or so

#18

well i haven’t got any actual modeling done yet…lol…i got side tracked doing lighting/render setups…lol…heres what i’ve settled on for the moment to show off my wips…i think its realistic-ish…which is what i’m after

#19

got the main bulk of the torso done…it’s a bit plain on the back but that won’t be seen so much so I’m not too concerned about it…i tweaked the materials a bit too, to give it a bit more of a shine

#20

neck done…
