Just another quick update. Worked on the arm armor and the leg connectors. Just a few more weapons to make then if I have time I’ll detail a few other pieces out. Next big chunk is to make his arms and pants clothy! One week to go! AAGGH

Here’s a quick pose test in ZBrush. I’m thinking of posing him similar to Superman or the Rocketeer, haven’t really decided yet. Any comments on it would be helpful!

Here’s a pose test of the almost final rez model. Still have to paint my weights and close some holes and take the cloth into zbrush. I think i’m going to do that after i get the final pose and then just merge a hirez version in. What do you guys think of the pose? I think it’s just about spot on…

Hey,

just had to pop in and say really good job on your model.
Only thing i can say about the pose is that i think the back needs to arch a little bit. Not sure how much wiggle room you have with the jetpack though. Maybe not, im not sure, but that was the first thing i noticed.
Really looking forward to the finished piece.

Thanks for the comments guys. I took the shirt into zbrush today and gave it some folds. Is it just me or does anyone else hate fiddling with getting normal maps and displacement maps out of zbrush? I just ended up exporting a fairly hi rez mesh out and replace the low rez geometry in my scene, don’t have the patience to get it working right for this contest. What’s a few 100,000 polys more right?? :slight_smile:

Yeah, that works too. :smiley: But dude, when it works, it’s like butter. I’m rendering 1.5million polys in 2 min, 9AA, reflection and radiosity. Definitely give it a second look when you have the time.

So here is basically what will end up being my final render for Ace. There are some more pieces of the image that I’m not showing yet (smoke and contrails and sun glare, maybe a sonic boom :)) But wanted to get any last minute tips on him before the end :slight_smile: Wanted to say thanks to everyone who’s been watching this thread! Your crits and comments have been invaluable!
