Hard FX Simulation

#1

Howdy all.

I’m working on a short film project which involves blowing up my apartment. I’ve modelled it in 3D and am running some tests for Hard FX. A lot of trickery is coming in to play, with duplicate, inivisible layers to help the physics behave properly.

Here’s a little progress animation. Any advice on the simulation would be great.

The door pops out of the frame and bounces off a railing quite well, if not a bit too slidey across the floor. However, whilst the door is sliding down the rail, it suddenly somersaults over the railing instead of sliding down it some more.

I have figured out the sliding is due to the floor settings…but what the hell is the somersault about??

The door has hard fx, the railing and floor have bounce collision layers.
