Thank you Squeeze,

Hey jose I’ve always had a hard time geting really clean looking lines in photoshop with just my wacom alone. I was wondering, what settings do you use when you make your line art before a painting. Do you normally use black, dark browns, or some other color for your line art aswell?
Hi Corey.
About the line work :
First- I make a rough drawing or sketch
Second- I create a layer filled with white paint , and we give a little transparency (opacity)
Third- we created another layer and we make the drawing with “beauty line”.I use the brush size by pressure deactivating the opacity brush by pressure.
(and a trick) for these line works I put a satin paper on the tablet.the pencil slips in a different way…more interesting for this kind of drawing
-About the color, I work with black and white.in the final step I add a color balance layer to give it a color tone
Remarkable! what more can i say! I would love to buy a cd tutorial from you. Jose i honestly think you are the best cg artist in the world. I have yet to find anyone who impresses me as much. Currently I am a student in college at the art institute trying to learn from the master painters. I am currently studying William Bouguereau, he’s my favorite. But i’m having trouble figuring out their painting method. I saw some stuff online saying they make a color layer over their line work that they call the dead layer, and work from dark to light. Do you also work from dark too light? I hate to keep bothering you so much, but i desperately want to improve my skills. Jose your the man!
Well, thanks again Corey:) nonproblem.About cd tutorial and this kind of stuff, you know, my Web site is a personal web, I do not have a business and the few tutorials are free, of course
William Bouguereau!!? Hahahha…great…he is one of my favorites too
“mountain of things” has influence of this painter.Funny, my method is in the other way.I paint a general base with the intermediate tones(all the drawing).
it is a good way to see all the scene. The following step: I add the main shades zones.Anyway in the “makin of” you will see this better.
( I am making the translation):argh:
Cool, nice eye brows acrobatics
Thanks for the tips and explanation of your techniques, non stop inspiration !!
Olijosman, you can’t hide this great thread again, soon you will be swamped with questions
Wow!!! Olijosman, I’ve been a huge admirer of your works, but I don’t think I’ve ever posted a reply before. This piece absolutely amazing!!! You are definitely one of my favorite CG artists!
For the making of, I hope you get really detailed about your methods and tips! I’d LOVE a huge 20 page article!! ![]()
