Fantastic work as always! You’ve nailed down every possible detail theres is need of! Sorry that I can’t really post much more than a fanboy comment but there is no way I’m experienced enough to start criticizing the nuances of THIS piece of work. 5 stars!
Happiness Is A Blue Bird, Jose Manuel Oli (2D)
Poor little blue bird, why why why
Hey Olijosman, I am a big fan of your work, but I was reluctant here to comment, but now am not.
The hunter looks great, the rifle, the fierce eyes, the wickedness of the pause, the fabulous coat, the hat , and poor little bird are all masterful. But, I had a problem with the glowing light coming from the depth of the forest. It is a little confusing to me as to where it leads and how it fits, may be over brightened, I don’t know, you are the master, but just as an observer, I felt that.
By the way, your paintings histograms are awesome
Elmasfeo, CarlCampbell… muchas gracias!
(thanks a lot)
BlueHarp,oDaYWaLKeRo…thank you

thank you very much for your commentary, but…damn, I don’t understand it very well…my English is really basic, like from “sesame street” :argh:
My English is not perfect either, it is my second language, so I may have mispelled what I meant. Let me try again:
The relation between the figure and the background is a bit competing against each other. The eyes are very focal in the painting and shifting the balance of the composition to the upper right, which is great. The bright light at the end of the forest trail is another attracting point that has; at least to my eyes; an equivalent energy. That relationship is what I meant. I am not saying it’s right or wrong, it’s just how I see it.
Don’t worry about it, I am just an observer, but I have high esteem to your work ![]()
Ok, Ashakarc, I understand it now
and thanks, it is a very good observation. Right, mainly it has 2 attention points : the face of the happiness hunter and the light of the forest end ,where the blue birds escape.it’s like an invitation to follow him in his mortal footpath…
Hey Olijosman, normaly you make a concept sketch before you make your finish render. Can you by chance , show us your concept sketch for this piece?
Thanks for the new replies:)
CoreyArtE- Hey Olijosman, normaly you make a concept sketch before you make your finish render. Can you by chance , show us your concept sketch for this piece?
Corey, not necessarily I make the same process in each image. In this occasion I only made a rough basic sketch before beginning the final image.
Olijosman, its awesome picture (as always by the way:D ) I love the colors and brush work is really top notch!! When comes to painting, how its possible that you use Photoshop but not Corel Painter? Photoshop is great app but what I really miss is some kind of smeary brush loaded with paint! Do you manage your color blending just by Smudge brush? Or do you have another “trick” for it? I have seen your great tutorial on your site, but for me its a bit limited in terms of spontaneous painting (make brush strokes then go over it with smudge instead of rapid painting by colors with realtime blending).
Thanks in advance!
Libor
P.S. I´m just curious I´m not saying its not a good way of working…
Libor-how its possible that you use Photoshop but not Corel Painter?
Well, I know and I have used Painter, but I prefer photoshop.I work fast with this program.
+About the tutorial, that is only one specific forms to make a painting effect .I use other kinds of paint and mix(blend) colors, of course.:arteest:
Anyway, the program is a tool, the important thing is not feel limitation in your work.
P.S. I´m just curious I´m not saying its not a good way of working…
Of course Libor, it is a good way for me
I dont mean to keep bothering you with all these questions, but this one thing keeps bothering me. In photoshop there is an option to turn your brushes to “wet edges”. Do you ever use that , maybe just for the sketching process or anything?
Hi again Corey:)
about that option,“wet edges” I do not use much, maybe in some occasion, when I do color sketched :
Yeah, hi its me again lol. I must be annoying. Well I started trying to learn how to paint trees like you did, but i’m having trouble. I keep getting really fuzzy looking results. I used the same type of brush u did, but I cant seem to get the same natural look of realife leaves. Perhaps you could give me some tips?http://coreyloving.com/TEMPSTuff/Trees1fuzzy.jpg
