Gee! Wish i could do something like that…
Amazing work… just love it.
Happiness Is A Blue Bird, Jose Manuel Oli (2D)
Thanks a lot for your words, Rares_Halmagean ( You are credit to the online community Olijosman. One of the top artists in the community and probably the most forward ) but sincerely I don’t agree.
-What other references did you use, besides the frenchman on horseback, for this piece. What role does reference play in the developement of your work?
+Right. After making the first sketches I make a work of investigation and documentation. In this case I have seen designs of old coats, weapons of this century, highlanders hats…many kinds of exotic birds …and poems too
-littleac Whoa! Is that a photo in the background?
+Thanks Littleac
No, the background isn’t a photo…you can see sketches an the image progress in the other pages:)
i love how he’s looking slightly over your shoulder… not quite at you. subtle but very well-executed. fantastic painting and congrats on the article! very interesting to read your techniques. ![]()
The details are insane… very skilled, you are. I love the rifle, but most of all I love the game tucked behind his arm
I don’t know how to rate art here, otherwise I would… keep em coming
Another well thought out piece by you Jose!! Beautiful, striking and intelligent. I was struck again at how much difference the final noise filter can make, how much life it can give. Keep on painting the good stuff!
-Thanks Alexyork, right, a great article indeed … I’m really happy:applause:
-Cypherx, thanks a lot
-Lisa, nice to see you! really thanks for your words
Ok Jose, here’s a new question for you. ( I think) You get such rich colors in your work. Do you use the eye dropper tool at all to help aid your colors from reference pictures.
Another question. In the color tab where you select your colors, do have yours set on HSB. Do you ONLY use the color tab to choose your colors, and do you leave the little color gradation at the bottom of the menu on RGB? I personaly set mine to “Current Color.” In other words, how do you go about using the color tab . I find it small and and alittle bit harder to use than the color picker window built inside photoshop.
Thanks for all your support Jose. If you can please be as thorough as possible. I am eager to learn.
Hi Corey
Remember, I have serious difficulties to understand complex phrases in English and much more to write correctly.
-You ask to me if I lame the color from photos?¿? no of course, and I don’t like to use realistic colors in my paintings.
-About HSB sliders ( CMYK SPECTRUM) , sorry but I don’t see where is the difficulty in using it.
-Anyway you can do a small color palete with main color spots .when you are painting you mix the colors (because you have opacity by pressure) and you can use quickly the dropper to take the resulting tones of the mixture.
Ok sorry about that. I guess i phrased it wronge. I know you dont steal colors from photoes, I was wondering if you use them to study from in a sense, not use them directly. My apologies friend.
For the HSB slider, what I ment was, what was your method for using it, not if it is difficulat to use period. For example, do you go down to your color CYMK Spectrum and select color, or even do you use your keyboard to type in values for the HSB slider, instead of moving the slider with the mouse. You know, just the little things. I know they do not seem like much to you, but for me it can be a real pain.
Sorry to bother you…I can tell that I’m stressing you. My apologies again.
No problem Corey…misinterpreted words:) I would like to be more explicit with the language, sorry.
-Absolutely, I observe the reality and documentation in my realistic works,I always say this.Your own hands or face can be a good reference when you have doubts.
-About HSB slider… words are hard for my,
I will prepare a small tutorial in images, but give me a little bit of time, I’m really really busy
Best
And This is !
-By the way…I always do the color selections with the pencil tablet, I never use the mouse.
Hmm I see. Thanks alot jose. Hey , but just tell me, why do you put your color spectrum at the bottom of the color menu on CYMK Spectrum?
Ok, I understand it
you ask me why I don’t use the RGB spectrum, for example? Well, you can see in the explanation, I don’t use that bar. But you know, that is only my way of work, not necessarily good for other people
Ok, I got it, thanks again for your time and patience. I will continue to pratice your method for awhile until I feel comfortable enough to branch off onto my own. That way I can learn more.
Felicidades :). Al final no fui a Zaragoza, me vine a Madrid. Veo que tu trabajo va de mejor a mejor. Sigo visitando tu página de vez en cuando, me alegra que no la abandones. Besos.
Happiness is…seeing your wonderful paintings.
After a glimpse to your website I see there’s another masterpiece on the Horizon!
