Hanging street - Cognito

#1

I am still learning the art of matte painting and while doing so i had a good oppurtunity to work in a vfx short movie “cognito” the particular shot is about a “hanging street” basically a place where some parts of building defy gravity like “blocks” flying around. i did couple of mattes on the same theme. Comments will be very useful for my future paintings…so please be generous

cheers

Looking good, i feel the boxes are floating but maybe they could be angled? They are all floating dead set straight. That’s just me.

Nice work :bounce:

interesting work, I see the street blocks are a bit unreal in shape and material, and the camera perspective is not matching the footage, the street level is too high and shows the street bricks too big , you know what Im saying here? paint some straight line details on those street blocks so you lose the round edges on them and make them look more realistic, the busildings facades look flat, you can tell they are 2D textures right away , try to work in some 3D , and re project the textures so you have some real 3D volume

Thanx james for replying  even i thought about the shops texture of being flat but cudnt make it happen in the given time. Well the muvi is done bt m rectifying the matte nway. and will keep in mind the points in the future too. thanx a lot for the tips!!
