hand made skin texture tutorials

Hi, im looking for some good tutorials into making human skin. I have made a model and now need to texture it. Ive got to grips with the SSS shader but now need to made the detailed texture maps. Im looking mainly at the diffuse map. Ive done a google but mostly find PS skin paint for concept work not actual map painting. Can any one point me in a good direction or give me some tips. Im concerned with getting the correct details/tone changes.
