Halo style Missile Launcher

#1

Well since my last wip bombed because it was a startrek wip, I’ve changed my tactics and went to my second passion, Futures real and movie style.

So here are 2 wip pics of the trigger and semi stock of the gun.

More will come tomorrow once I’m fully awake!

#2

I’ve a lot more work on my model this morning, It feels good to finally get all most a good night sleep.

Anyway, here’s a few more wip pics!

#3

Where did my pics go?

#4

Looks a lot like a super-soaker. Can you post your reference?

#5

You mean the blueprints?

I can, I’m hoping once the model is done I can buy Zbrush import it into Zbrush and texture it that way, I don’t know how to texture it in max, other wise I would use max %100.

I really like how Zbrush demo imports an OBJ file…

Update, I have an hour before class starts, so I’ve decided to go ahead, and post up some progress pictures!

Perspective view shaded.

I think these cans on each side looks a bit absurdly.
Now it looks like a water pistol…

P.S.

Can you make pictures brighter? It’s hardly to analyze such dark images…

#8

Thanks mate, And yes I can make them brighter.

I’ve been playing with Zbursh & max together, By the way I agree with you guys that I will take off the liquid acid canisters, and model it more from the movie MIB.

#9

Updated, I’ve decided the gun needed to go in the direction of Halo 2-3 assault riffle.
However this model the gun will have 1 single rocket launcher system where the bubble shit used to be.

Screens like in Halo 2-3 on the Assult Rifle.

New metal texture added.

#10

I’ve added an lcd screen, I’ve took the bubble stuff out, I’ve chambered some of the hard edges.

I’m testing out the scale, And I’ve majorly upgraded the gun!

More upgrading, I’ve chambered some of the edges so it looks more slick , instead of clunky and boxy.

I can help you make a clear beautiful grey material render,of course if you want.

At first it's too early for textures.

Use standard scanline render. (Ideal for WIP)

Place omni light somewhere near the model. Next place skyligt above.
In render settings go to Advanced lighting and select Light Tracer.

Render image. The result will be surprising. :)

For example - here is my old render with advanced lighting in scanline.

Thank you bro, I would love some help and your gun is Beautiful

By the way can you see massive imporvements on my gun?

#13

Yes. I would advise you to look on real samples of fire-arms. May be you find some ideas.

#14

I love the halo guns, but I wanted to put a twist on my gun and make it look something like yours but yet it would fit int he halo universe.

#15

Right now I’m in class, but I got a question for you Felix?

How do you make your piping? Do you spline shape it?

And I have started a new gun that’s in the halo game series, I’v3 found one that was a concept drawing, And when I get home I will go ahead post up the blue prints, and a wip pic with your tutorial on lighting.

By the the class I’m in now is called adobe photoshop 1 “even though its really adobe cs4 extended”

Ok, Loggin off.

#16

Well I"ve found a gun I like,

working on the base model of the gun.

Wire frame picture of the model.

The blueprint.

#17

Detail work sucks, and I need to fix my chamfer.

A different view, and yeah I know like I said, I got to fix my chamfer.

#18

No, I’ve just edit the polymesh.
It’s more comfortable for me, but you can make the same with splines.

The second model looks like laser rifle from Fallout 3. Nice concept, go on.

#19

Could you show me what you mean? I’ve haven’t touched in 2-3 years & I’m very rusty.

I’ve also decided that this model will be the same gun as you saw in the blueprints, but it’s going to shoot one ballistic missile, which I will model as well.

Ps, can some one show me how to texture my model via zbrush or adobe photoshop cs4?

#20

OK, make a cylinder or pipe (In that case cylinder), convert it to editable poly, than select vertex in modifier editable poly, next rotate points as you want.)
You can also use mesh smooth to make the shape clear.

If you got such problem with mesh smooth, make a small extrude on each end of your pipe.
