hair and fur

Hello guys, I have encounter a problem when I try to add hair to more than one character in the same scene. I finished adding hair to one guy then I started the other guy, I stiled the hair, everything was working ok I render and no problem, then when I selected the second guy again the hair desapeared and only the first guy’s hair was in the scene. Any ideas of what could this be? I use 3ds max 9.
