Group Question.....

#1

I have a group that contains some specific item channels (not items), for example objectA:xpos and objectb:heading etc. Now when in animate mode, if I filter on this group, I’d expect to see those channels appear in the list…but they don’t. Does this type of group filtering only work for items as opposed to channels? If so, I’d like this changed. It’d be hugely useful to be able to set this type of group up and filter on it.

Anyone confirm this behaviour? Care to comment? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

I’m talking about the item list and when you set up groups. You can filter the item list using them…is this what you’re talking about Stooch?

Anyone else?

DMack, confirmed. I don’t think channels are fully implemented as groupable.

For instance,

.You can't right-click a channel in the item list to add it to a group.

.In the item list and the groups tab, you can't add an object to a group, whose channels are already part of a group.

.Annoying but not a bug, if you have items in the item list,
A (group 1)
|-B (no group)
  • |-C (group 1)

and you collapse B, when you filter on group 1 you see A, but not C. I think it would be quickest and most useful to just show hidden group members …instead of trying to do some complex folding scheme for hidden members.

Perhaps in the next mini patch (5.4d)? Or is that wishful thinking? They’ve been on such a roll recently!
