…all !

My name is Troy. I am just beggining to get back into CG art production as I have spent countless eons coding.

Top priority is re-vamping my system so I can actually render some of the items I have created.

I have been working in Game Development for aproximately seven years and have my own freelance company, which doesn’t relly make anything but break even at this point.

I am 39 (the big 40 comes in November), happily married to a beutiful career woman and have two boys (14 and 11).

I am brand new to CGNetworks and I am happy to be associated with a huge community of highly talented artists. You will all be very inspirational to me as I attempt to brush up my CG skills and become a productive artist. I can only hope to achieve the talent I have found in all the members here.

Hey Troy,

What platform will you use? You know with that coding experience we would love to have you in the 3DS Max club… but I respect your choices whatever they be.

Best of luck with your ventures.

Hi Ls3D:

I use Max and can probably pick up on Maxscript pretty easily. I would call myself a newbie as far as Max goes, only because I really haven’t used it for a long time.

My experience is in C++, C#, and database programming. I have done AI and physics programming with some tool generation here and there.

Hey Troy,

Well your website hints that brave new frontiers are unfolding for you right now (he says sounding like a bad fortune cookie). It must be tough getting back into the art side of things, I would think programmers are even more critical to a VG production company than 3D artist, but then having both skillsets makes you Golden.

You must have existing artist, what apps are they favoring? I’m just curious because it is an interesting problem choosing apps and building and morphing your production pipeline.

Wicked Sky is a home based business. I have used remote contractors in the past, but we have yet to work on anything that has actually been published. All of our projects have been dropped at demo completion. Now I have mostly curtailed production at WSS and am honing my skills with Cg and 3D art in order to be able to more successfully market WSS and be able to cover the full spectrum of project design and management.

The programmer to artist relationship has always been a wide gap as far as the production environment stands. This is one thing that some of the game development studios have expressed an interest in trying to thin. If it can be established that a person that has either skill can cross train (at least a little), more understanding for both sides of production will be achieved and then more innovation will be realized.

I would encourage those who haven’t at least tried to further their education across the pipeline to the extent that they at least understand the development process, do so. This is one of the biggest reasons why I am trying to get back into CG art and development. This and the fact that I love what you all have been achieving with computers and would hope to even be half as talented as the members of the CGNetwork community.

Oh… by the way. The website screams for updating and remodeling. Which is another reason why I am looking to produce some eye candy and traffic drawing material. Hopefully it will improve as time goes along.

Thanks for your comments Ls3D, I hope to have much more input and participation here.
