Greed

#1

Hey guys, I recently started a new picture, still sketching.
I’d like to have some advice on proportions, compositions etc in general before I start line art.
It is suppose to be a Goddess of Greed holding an golden apple and the hands on her back reaching for it, what do you think?

there! =)

I think that’s a bit unreadable, sketchy like this. the concept is really interesting though!
I’m sure that colors will solve the “unreadable”.

I would personally add more height to the picture, at bottom in fact, to add some cloths waves which could bring the eye on the back apple… but that’s my point of view! ^^

whatever, I’ll watch for this! =)

I like the idea–it’s original and interesting.

The execution is fine for the intended style.

A couple of things I think could be improved:

-The bones and arms form a fairly chaotic mass, and if you selectively light your scene with brighter and darker areas (think in terms of having multiple lights with small radius, instead of one big light that covers the entire scene), you’ll be able to create a stronger sense of coherence, mood, as well as control exactly what to emphasize and what to push more into darkness. For example, one small light is focused on the red apple, one on the orange apple, one on her face, and a couple on selected areas among the bones/arms.

-Her face is a bit flat looking. Even for this type of style, it’s still possible to convey the underlying structure of her skull, instead of a vague, flat face.
