Tyson Burnham has entered the Grand Space Opera 3D.

A simple concept of a memorial ship. The setting is a former battleground with the remains of two alien fleets scattered inside a pass between two vast nebula clouds. The battle occured on January 16th 2005 Earth time. The memorial ship was built by an ancient alien alliance 20 years after the battle, but was designed to accomodate humans, as this battle was key to humanities survival (although no human from Earth was involved in the conflict). Human kind will not discover this memorial for at least another 500 to 600 years.

This second sketch is of the memorial station. The idea was that it would be created out of the salvaged remains of a command ship.

#4

This should be the final memorial station design. The top section is a salvaged part of the command ship hull. It is the bridge section of the command ship.

This is a simple color study of the Memorial Station and the battlefield. It is located inside a pass between 2 nebula that the invading nomad empire had to cross in order to quickly assult the allied force before they had time to gather their entire fleet. A smaller force was sent to the pass in order to halt the advance of the Nomad Empire to buy the alliance more time to gather their entire fleet to defend their galaxies, especially the ‘sea of light’ (what they call the milky way).

Nice concept and the idea is good too! Keep it up!

Thanks guys! Here is a more complete story… a little long, but I hope you like the full story anyway:

The Nomad Empire was invading. A massive, but quick strike at the Earth would allow them to quickly harvest the energy of its rare core for their future expansions to other galaxies. They would enslave the few humans they could capture before the planet would explode or burn from the solar winds.

The humans were a prime target due to their inferior technology, and their inability to defend against the Empire spacecraft. There was little time to lose, however, as the superior fleets of the Galactic Defense Alliance would quickly retaliate if given enough time to gather against the Nomad horde.

The Satra were a small part of the G.D.A., and their fleet was the only one close enough to slow the advance of the Nomad Empire.

The Satra were outnumbered 500 to 1, but this only fueled their desire for battle. These kinds of odds would surely bring them the glory in battle every Satra dreamed of.

The Nomad advance was approaching the pass between the twin nebulas, the perfect place for the Satra to halt the invasion.

As the Nomad Empire approached, the Satra began their ritual chant, bringing them into a trance that would unite them and focus their minds on the annihilation of their enemies.

A fierce battle ensued, the Empire desperate to push past the defenders, and the Satra coldly blasting their way through the ranks of the cowardly invaders. The Satra pushed the Empire back three times, suffering critical losses, but they did not show any sign of surrender.

When the Empire knew it was too late, and that the Alliance was ready and on their way, they prepared an assault that the Satra would not be able to push back. They were overrun, and the Empire continued their invasion, but they did not go toward Earth or flee like the Alliance had suspected
they moved on to the defenseless home world of the Satra.

The Alliance pursued the Nomad fleet along their new path of vengeance, but was too late. The core of the Satra home world was not the type that the Nomad Empire needed, but they used their technologies to detonate the planet core, causing the planet to explode.

The Nomad Empire then moved on to the remaining Satra space colonies, destroying them one by one, with the Alliance never able to overtake them until they arrived at the last colony. The Alliance desperately attacked the flank of the invading fleet, trying to divert their attention from the final colony of the Satra, but the Nomad horde did not turn to fight until the final colony of the Satra was destroyed.

The fleet of the Nomad Empire was finally eradicated, and the Alliance lost one of their most honorable civilizations in the defense of a planet that did not even know of the peril that the Satra had saved them from. The end of the invasion was yesterday, January 16th 2005.

A few decades later, the Alliance constructed two monuments to the Satra race, one at their final battleground in the Twin nebulas pass, and another at the former site of the Satra home planet. These monuments were built to accommodate humans, and educate them on the final sacrifice that the Satra made for Earth’s survival.

Humankind will not discover these monuments for another 600 years.

I have to prepare for a BFA review for next week. I will have to put this off for a bit because I need to concentrate on that for the moment.

Will update as soon as I can!
