Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Tyler Hamilton

#81

Nice work Tyler!

The idea is coming along very nicely

#82

tell us how you get that plasma look in there, do you use transparency settings? or is it just luminosity & glow?

any gradients???

sweet stuff, keep it coming:bounce:

#83

‘Disposable defence’ - I sure wouldn’t want to pilot one of those things! lol.

Look very cool, sort of scrap metalish (which I guess is the idea).

Are they automated though? Or do they have pilots? Cos if they have pilots then the men giving the orders are pretty harsh, sending them out in tin cans… but then again, at times of war… lol.

#84

the plasma is gradients/procedurals… in the battle damage on the hull… i just froze my subpatch object slected several dozen polys beveled them in named the surface burn… aplied several procedurals for dif colors of ornge red… and gradients for the smoke ish black color…

and yes they are suposed to be manned craft =)

#85

gulp  , LOL

Ahh well, I’m glad I’m not a pilot of one of those (That’s for sure).

Awesome work, it’d be great to see these pieces come together, even if for a very rough composition, to know where each bit fits.

#86

It looks great but it seems to me that all the textures are too dark,

maybe some should be shiny for contrast. Maybe the attackers should me
shiny and the defenders rusty.
my 3d entry

#87

im going for a dark picture

#88

Dark can be fun.

#89

im not dead… my posts are heheh… been a while im still workin ont he project… here is a character head im working on… lightwave’s hair support is a really really old plugin so im having to do this with single point poly chains

#90

Yeah. Hair is … oh, how to put it nicely? Not fun? Hmmm … she actually kind of looks like a girl I went to college with. Nice work.

#91

WOW! AWESOME! The face texture and model are truely brilliant.

Unfortunate about the hair, but it looks great from where I’m sitting.

#92

Tyler,

This is looking really good. Love the burning wreck. Nice feeling of action, perhaps a debris field around the split would ad to the feeling of motion/action too?

Good luck

JA

#93

finaly got some time to do a few renders play the the texture a bit… next few days should get some more work up as well

#94

still modeling it a lil and texturing… working out the kinks… but had to show some stuff

#95

Wow, this one has come a long way, i’ve said it before but your capital ship is very cool, and The Bug fighter looks fantastic, awesome texture job and really good design as well. The design on the human character is really interesting, where is she going to be again?

Dave

#96

makes me think of a cyber oyster, yea I know freaky compliment, but I mean the dirty shiny texture, very cool!

#97

I love the texturing on the first ship, it looks like something out of Independence Day.

Looking forward to see your end result.

#98

thanks for the compliments… they always help on the next modeling session…

the chick will be front and slightly off center

woow im not sure how you guys insert in to the thred it cought me off guard …

Mat… LOL yea its insentive alright… hehehe
Climax… I use lightwave… and thanks for the compliments and tips =)

Nemric… thanks… and does any one know how much gore is too gore this comp? eg

#99

due to time constraints i may have to change up my idea… i dont have enough time to model all the characters i planned to put in the pic… my eyes were bigger than my stomach for this project

#100

great skills, I can’t wait to see this stuff in final action:twisted:
