Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Toby Green

#21

Spent quite a bit of time on and off today doing more details. Unfortunately I don’t think you can see much of what is actually there, but that’s how it goes. Tomorrow I switch to another model for my scene, and hopefully find time to do it, as I already got into a fight with my girlfriend over where my priorities are supposed to be!

P.S. Just in case anyone is confused, there are no multiple vehicles at this point. All the shots are of the same model, front and back etc.

Wow cool modeling, like your style.

#23

Hi,
I like your cartoon style very much. Wish I’d have your modelling skills.

Good luck in the challenge,

Russel

I was not around much yesterday to do too many polys. Right now, the Voyager probe is still in it’s basics. I will try to make her highly detailed, but I will have to come at a compromise, as I imagine the real voyager is heavily covered in thermal blanket.

For those that don’t know, there were two voyagers made. And both are still travelling in space carrying a gold plated record of human data (and instructions on how to play it), in the event any other civilization comes across it.

Again I have not had too much time but trying to do what I can. One thing that bugged me is finding decent reference photos of the voyager. It seems even those from Nasa tend to have different parts from one image to the next, and as for those Nasa artists, foreget it, even they have been short-cutting and altering things in order to draw better. Eventually I decided to just forget trying to make a blue print copy, and am going to alter the voyager to my own means. Perhaps this will be voyager #33, who knows.

#26

great job dude ! keep it up

#27

Some more modifications… I may just put a halt on it for now, to work on another vehicle.

#28

Indeed fun bumping into an old acquaintance like this  There’s some insane modeling going on here! I’ll definitely hang around and see how this develops.

#29

Ooooh, love the Crossing V.

But with Voyager, the edge of the parabolic antenna should be much thinner, almost an edge, not thick like this.

As to the blueprints, there’re models of Cassini and Galielo at NASA. It might help you get ideas for your Voyager.

Very cool modeling and an amazing design !!!

Your car have good general shape and a very detailed work on each part witch makes a very good job. Congratulations!

I´m very interested to see a texturized version of the car !!!

#31

I like the style, very full of details!

#32

hey - looks funny - i like the way of subdividing and smoothing just everything in your models. looking forward to your textures and shading, can imagine some nice models …

#33

Started working on a transport truck, but then re-worked it into a double decker bus. At least I hope to make it into one very soon.

#34

Hey

I really like your models, expecially their “cartoonish” style … really well done and fun details … looking forward for the textures

Bye, Riccardo

#35

haha - love that bus! Looks like it’s melting - could it be from the heat of an exploding supernova?

#36

Great modeling and detail… keep it up

#37

bus thingy is looking good, i would maybe make it more thin, if it is a double decker type thing.

#38
