Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Toby Green
Believe it or not, despite working in the gaming industry I never did any real concept work. So thus to this day I stick to mostly stick figures and scribbles, so I apologize for what looks like at joke. I assure you the modelling will not come across the same.
The theme is Crossing. We have so much Space-Junk floating around out there, that perhaps one day, some alien life somewhere will end up dealing with our problem we caused. I have this vision of some kind of almost comical yet interesting scenario of what could happen someday.
It has been quite some time since I have done any HIGHPOLY work for a change, and thus, I feel quite motivated to return and take another crack at the old school stuff.
Doodled around a bit on what should be some alien space-car. We shall see how detailed I can make her by 2 month’s time.
Different concept from what I have seen so far. Nice car, and very cartoony. So I guess your on the right track
. Keep it up and good luck.
Again a bit of more work this morning. I was going to add a kind of turbo-fan in the front engine. However, I happened to notice it almost looks as though I see a toilet seat there right now? I am almost tempted to turn it into one. Should I?
Cool cars. No, I don’t think you should turn it into a toilet seat. I find the current 50ies style adorable. really cute:)
Well I was not going to post another update for today, but some people wanted to see my further detail so here goes.
I decided to add a turbo fan for now on the front engine, as I had mixed comments about a toilet. Also seems I have some obvious seam problem on the front middle of the boddy. Damn symmetry modifier!
nice done toby,
good craft in some how it reminds me with my car engeine:thumbsup: “kidding”
very nice modeling skell keep the good work
wish you good luck
Hehe, looks really funny. How is it that everybody is so much better at everything than I am? So I figure they’re going to hit something, had any idea yet what’s it going to be? It has to be something ridiculous, like some large donut, or the ‘76’-ball you see in america … something like that. Or a bunch of bart simpson dolls, that’s a classic
Anyway, it looks good, keep up the good work.
very nice modeling…i can still see the centerline creas down teh middle of part of the model but tahts should be easy to fix unless you ment to keep it but its still looks nice…still wondering what the texturing is going to look like?
cool and funny desing, I like the thing on the roof of the car, looks like the apple leaf
Yes, the object which will be involved with the collision I will start modelling on tomorrow if I get the time. I was thinking of a Voyager probe, what do you think? As for the space-mo-bile, I will continue to table with more detail on it today, and perhaps later tonight or tomorrow morning post the last update on it for a while. Dont want to get too much into the habit of just concentrating on one thing of course.
As for the seam on the car, yes that COULD be a problem. I did plan to originally have a kind of seam, however the nurms have added more of a seam in places I didnt want, and perhaps is too evident. I did try to fix some of them today but it didnt work out as great as I hoped. Oh well, perhaps Im not as smart with norms after all, I will do some more weight adjustments in the near future.
These models are too cool. I think the space junk collision idea is good, but not epic. With this style, I imagine a collision that would cause some sort of cosmic domino effect.
I look forward to seeing where you take it.
